We NEED to get things done. We HAVE to do this or that. Give me a break. How often does a baby drink a bottle? Every three to four hours? I'm am b___stfeeding and when my guy is hungry everything stops, he gets fed and then the world continues. I have 2 children, a dog, laundry, no dishwasher and a husband. TC - We could call it drowning. Definition - To die by suffocation as a result of inhaling liquid, especially water, into the lungs.

April- yeah, I amf too and if your baby is like mine, it takes 40-60 minutes to feed him 8-10 times a day. However, I am amused by the whole propping thing and I can understand why one might want to do it. Sometimes I wish there was a propping equivalant for bf, but I usually only feel that way during a growth spurt or when I am really tired. :)

I hate to be so technical or sound like some kind of geek, but, coughing to get liquid of your throat is not drowning bc it has not gotten into your lungs, yet. But yes you can most certainly drown when liquid is in your lungs. Anyway, this whole propping bottle thing is amusing. I was just discussing it with a "friend" who gave birth a couple of weeks ago. She said "Anyone that props up a bottle is a lazy and bad parent. There is nothing that I would ever have to do that would make me prop up my baby's bottle. When feeding your baby nothing else should matter." C___p, c___p and more c___p. She lives with her parents who cater to her every need. She has never been alone with her baby yet. I say, as a parent you need to do whatever you have to do sometimes to make it through. If propping is the only way that you are going to be able to cook, use the bathroom and/or take care of another child then do it.

How long does it take to go to the bathroom? Babies are only babies once. Tthe dishes, laundry even a sho wer you can do for the rest of your life. When your child is grown you are going to wish you spent more time holding them and less time doing other things!

ok, most of you had good advice and didn't make me feel like a freak for OCCASIONALLY propping a bottle for a second or two- some of you seem to be super woman and never have to do two things at once. i just want to make it very clear to the holier than thou's that i am a very good mom and i would never do anything to deprive my baby of the attention she needs!! but anyway that is why i came here to get other opinions. i did not come here so that you perfect women who've never ever had to multi task could judge me. thank you to everyone who had a reasonable opinion.

I was/am home 24/7 with three children and never propped. It's not easy, but I have no regrets.

I bf too, I can't prop. Everything is done when the baby is sleeping or in my arms. Lol!

I agree. Different strokes for different folks. Not to start anything.. but what do you do if you are out and about going somewhere and the kid is screaming his head off. You can't stop bc you are pressed for time, so do you let him scream or prop a bottle. Me, I prop a bottle. I live in NYC where I don't have to drive, so my son is usually in his stroller. If he cries and needs to eat I prop that bottle. Yes, priority is for him to eat but we still need to keep it moving.
