To Vaccinate Or Not To

Now you're just bing silly. Let me help you. The big difference is that you are fighting the United States Government, defended by the Department of Justice, instead of a drug company. In a lawsuit against a drug company there is a process called "discovery". This is the fact finding part of the trial and an injured person can ask for all the doc_ments from the drug company that could be related to the product. This is not an option if your child has been injured by a vaccine. Seems a little one sided for a family who probably already has medical bills out the a__s, now they have to find legal defence that can compete with the DOJ. Usually when someone is sueing another party because the have been injured the DOJ does not show up.

I think that it mentions that in the post.

I dont bother to read ignorant church banter too closely.

I guess your laziness led you to your own ignorance.

I have an "Immunization Waiver" that I got from my chiropractor that allows for exemption on the basis of religious and other non-medical reasons. It states "I believe the body has its own natural immunity. I object to the introduction of foreign toxic substances into the blood stream." Like many medical practices we are lead to believe that proceedures are law. Typically, there is a statement such as, "required unless refused." REFUSE until you have done your research! Our local doctor's office now has everyone sign a release form that states if any adverse reaction occurs from the immunization the doctor and drug company will not be held responsible. What does that tell parents about their confidence of the immunization safty?

I too am torn on the issue, I have two kids and my first is fully vacc. my second I stopped at one year. I used to feel that those un vac. were riding on the backs of those who were, but now I feel that western medicine is like a religion, and there are equally valid alternatives too it. Talk to your naturopathic DR. about homeopathic immunizations, these do work too, plus I always keep in mind that there is hype on both sides, and I try to respect others choices, hopefully all will take the time to educate themselves and come to a decession based on facts, and personal beliefs- not fear or hype on either end.

Rene: Why does your chiropractor have immunization waivers?

I HAD TO BUMP THIS UP TO HEAR MORE IDIOTIC ARGUMENTS ON WHY NOT TO VACCINATE. IT'S KINDA LIKE WATCHING JERRY SPRINGER...IT SHOWS YOU HOW CRAZY SOME PEOPLE ARE, AND HOW NORMAL I AM.... ROUND TWO-BEGIN!

Alrighty, I'll throw my 2 cents in...I just started researching vaccinations today; since my daughter is only 3 weeks old, I only looked up the ones she's scheduled to recieve at her 2 month appointment. Personally, the only vaccine I would NOT give her is the DTaP. Unfortunately, I don't think I actually have the choice of whether or not to vaccinate her, because of where & by whom she is being seen.

I've done extensive research on this. The big hoopla on the vaccine safety came from the use of the preservative thimerosal. It's no longer used in the US at least and has not for many years. I'd say all the recommended vaccines are needed; I'm just not convinced on the influenza shot's effectiveness and safety, and when I pressed the pediatrician on the issue he had to admit that administration to infants is a new guideline, and we don't know it's long term benefits or harm yet; it's only been shown to positively help influenza A which is not even around. Other than that I'm more than OK with vaccinations.

wow, it's nice to not be the only saying sensible reasonable things here. I have done alot of research on the subject (as you can tell by my previous posts under the name "i will say it again") and there is really very little reasons to NOT vaccinate. Canada too has stopped using thimerosal in vaccines. I agree with BBK, and flu vaccines are not entirely necessary. They do contain thimerosal, but there is very little proof of a link between it and autism. Besides that, the flu vaccine is not only made to combat virus's from LAST year, the flu is rarely life threatening, and almost never causes life long handicaps. Some religions do not allow the use of vaccines, but i can respect those which do not use cells derived from human tissue at all (like blood transfusions and transplants) because they are willing to give their lives for their beliefs.. As i have mentioned before, the vatican strongly suggests vaccination and that doing so is not approving abortion. Please people, just get your child vaccinated. It IS the best thing for your child, and the risks involved with getting the vaccines is far far greater than the risks of not getting them..

TO JAIME: You do have a choice, you could at least ask for single dose instead of getting the bundle. They are probably more expensive and you may have to request them in advance, and of course your child will be getting more shots, but it's the safer than getting them all at once.

TO Jamie: And of course you can refuse them all together, depends on what you feel is best for your child and situation.

mercury is still in the Hep B vaccine that we give to babies in the first hours of life

There was Thimerosal in about 5.5 of the Hep B vaccines in 2001, but has not since. The way you state it it implies it is in all of them which is not true. In any case, you should only vaccinate the newborn if the mother or family members are Hep B positive. Otherwise you can do it later if at all. We did not vaccinate our daughter with hep B at birth and the doc agreed.
