You are playing that game anyway when you get your child vaccinated. Who is to say your child won't be the "1 in a million" case that does have an adverse reaction to vaccines?

There is no concrete proof that vaccines have any adverse affect, only speculation, but it is a definite that not having the vaccines can!

My $ .2 cents here if I may. "To ~", I find it troubling that a known toxin such as mercury is used in the vaccines. I am glad there are those who play devil's advocate to keep drug companies honest. The fact that there is no proof of something, does not necessarily disprove it. It has happened time and again with many drugs. bThat said, ~ while it's good to be cautious, the argument that you can't get much exposure because the diseases have been erradicated is a poor one. The diseases have been erradicated because of vaccination, and no matter what some hippie gurus claim, that's the reason and not some magical "viral cycle". Vaccines are safe and using extreme cases and present them as mainstream is also irresponsible. At the end of the day it's your decision, but try to make it without any preconceived notions....

And for the other person: May be you've had your child vaccinated with out reading the paperwork with information about the vaccine your child will be given That means you missed the part about VAERS the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System It's unfortunate you people think I am anti vaccine This has been an ongoing topic here for me on several threads on one of them I said that I do believe vaccines are beneficial I encourage you all to do what you think is best for your families and hope that you would let others do the same for their families Thanks!

I don't understand what your reasons for not vaccinating are. I have read all of your posts in the other vaccinate thread, and you have never come out and said why you have chosen not to. One thing you have said time and time again is that you do not feel your child is at risk.. is this your reason? Just curious..

To C - yes I'm a horrible mother, and I want my child to contract these diseases! What better way than to take him to a proffessional to do it! Hopefully his immune system will wear down any day, and atleast one of these diseases will make him sick! Oh, how I pray! I know, I know, his chances of contacting any disease now that I've got him immunized has now lessened greatly, but I just dont have the time to run him around all over the world, and hope that he would catch an illness virally. This way, I have a minute chance that he'll get it while he's at home! And if the poor little guy doesn't get sick, well then atleast he's got more immunzations in 2 months. Chelsey that is not what I meant. You are very defensive. I'm sure you are a great mother who is doing the best with the info you have. seriously :-) There is something called c_mulative toxicity which happens when people give their children too many ,which all have toxins, at the same time. You could look it up maybe. I'm sorry if I came across harsh, but 8 vaccines is excessive. sorry :(

I also apologize for my "defensive" ways! However, I'm not exactly sure where you live, but where I am, 8 vaccines is perfectly normal. Its not 8 needles, only 3. Since a little baby can contract these viruses so easily, it is at their best interest to get them all. (If you so choose to do so) They also do require a booster shot. Some in a couple of months, or in a few years. I'm not concerned about my kids getting c_mulative toxicity. (Which they can get by even only one vaccine) I'm concerned about my kids getting an incurable illness like Meningitis. And if my child needs 3 needles to help eliminate the risk of 8 diseases, then I'm all for it. I know there are minimal risks of getting my children vaccinated. I know my child could have went into anaphalactic seizures, because of possible allergies. I also know that I take that risk whenever my child puts something in its mouth. Be it food or drink. But there are major risks if I dont. I do what is best for my children and family, with the advice of my kids pediatrician. I'm not even terribly concerned about what the ingredients in the vaccinations are. I trust my doctor and health nurses, to keep me informed and up to date on potential risks, and new developments. Thankyou, I am a great mother. Its not that I'm doing the best with the "information that I have". I do the best with my own beliefs and trust that I put into my kids doctor, who I know have my childrens best interests at heart. However, I thank you for your advice and concern. I am not interested in including myself in an ongoing debate about whether its right or wrong to vaccinate my children. I do whats right for my family, as anybody else would do for theirs.
