I have a question about a dr's call. I'm currently 37 weeks pregnant with my second child. I went to the doctor on Wednesday and I was 3 cm's dilated and 80% effaced. The doctor said that she expects to see me in labor and delivery before the weekend is over. How can the doctor tell?

She is using her past experience, I have seen that some women go weeks at 3cm, you must have other signs as well and you are considered full term. Will not be long now. Have you had any other symptoms? or Pain so far?

I really have'nt had any other symptoms, Just irregular contractions here and there. I had some pretty strong one's tuesday night. They were 15 minutes apart for 3 hours and then they just started to fade away. Now I'm having a whole lot of pressure. The dr said that the babies head is down in position but that's all I really know about it.

I am currently 37 weeks. I am waiting for my doctors visit this Friday. Hopefully she will put me in the hospital and induce my labor. How does your doctor feel about inducing your labor? I feel like I can't make it another 2 weeks pregnant, I am experiencing severe lower back pain (I can barely walk) and I have irregular contractions daily. I am currently still working, this Thursday is my last day. And I am about 3.5 cm dilated. I will be happy when all of this is over.

I am due Sept 8 - so I am starting 36th week tomorrow. I am also having alot of lower back pain and crutch pains - I am having such a hard time waiting too. It seems so far away. I am having s_x every nite now h oping it will help kick t hings off naturally in about a week or two./ I understand how everyone feels about the back pain.

I tried having s_x the other day, but it was way too uncomfortable. We tried several positions, but nothing was working. I guess I better stick to walking.

I just began my 37th week with my second child. It has been 10 yrs since my last pregnancy. I can't remember what contractions feel like. I've been crampy in my back and front - like period cramps - but nothing I can actually time. And they may last all morning but then go away by afternoon. I'm feeling your pain ladies and want this over with too! I know Castor Oil doesn't work -- tried that 10 yrs ago and it only gave me diarrhea and cramps. I am out of patience!
