39 Weeks 2cm Dialated 65 Effaced 1

I am 39 weeks, dialated to two, 65% effaced, and the dr. said the baby has dropped very low. (I forget exact words used.) Any theories on when I will go into labor? Second child. And what does -1 mean?

HI when your baby drops into the pelvis it is mesured by how far it has gone down each stage is called a station a fully engaged baby is at ( 0) that means that the haed has decended to the prominent bony landmarks on each side of the pelvis. And the head will be fixed in possition ,not floating. A baby who has just begun to decend can be at -4 or -5 station. Once the delivery begins the head continues past 0 +1 +2 up to the crowning at +5. A woman who goes into labor at 0 has proberbly less pushing to do than a woman who starts at -3.
