San - Hey.. Well I havent had any signs of labor, only braxton hicks, and now I have a horrible cold and I am soo worried about being sick when I have the baby and then getting him sick. Not only am I sick but so is his dad and our son. So its a whole family thing. I dont have it as bad as the rest of them do, only runny nose, sneezing, and stuffy head. I will have to email you after I have the baby and let you know how everything went, how is it going with little Ryan? Take care and talk to you soon!

I was 20 when I had my first daughter. She only weighed 6lbs.3oz. and the doctor 4th degree episiotomy. From end to end. I had an epideral(thank god), but the pain I felt fot the next month was awful. I am now 25 and my 2nd bebe is due in march. I'm sooo scared of the episiotomy and/or the ripping.

Hi Ashlie, sorry you got the flu. Im having those terrible afterpains at the moment, midwife said she was a bit worried about me as im taking a while to recover but i just said thats me,im always the same during and after pregnancy. Guess what, i actually miss my bump?? im not having another baby though its weird starting again after 8yrs you dont realise what little time you get to yourself. Ryans doing ok loves to start screaming around 8-12pm, taking him alderhey childrens hospital nxtwk to meet the surgeons who will be repairing his lip/palate. When i was in hospital i was talking to a lady on the same ward and i ended up leaving before she gave birth but apparently her baby was also born with a cleft but she didnt know anything about it cause the lip was fine so it wasnt picked up on the scans. Well Ashlie im actually nervous for you, probably cause im still sore and can remember every detail of lastwk, anyway hope you dont have another bad tear again, by the time you read this it will all be over. Dont forget you can e-mail me privately if you prefer. Good luck mate im thinking of you.X

San - HEY!! Well im back, heres my story, I went in Wednesday morning to see the doc and she checked me and said I wasnt favorable for induction and she wanted to send me home, well I almost started crying and begged her not to send me home because I knew the baby was too big and had to come out, my cervix was high, thick and closed and baby hadnt even dropped into the birth ca___l, she said she couldnt break my water but she could insert something into my cervix to try and help it dialate but my chances of a csection were 50%, so I said that was fine, at that point I didnt even care because I just wanted him out, well they admitted me into the hospital and she came over and inserted the pill and then I had to lay there for 40mins and then I got up and walked, 2hrs later she came over and checked me and I was still high and thick but I dialated to 3cm, so she inserted another pill, went through the same process and 2hrs later when she checked me I was still high and thick and now dialated to 4+ maybe 5. so she inserted another pill, she told me that when she came back in 2hrs she wanted to hopefully break my water but the baby had to drop first, well when she came back, baby still hadnt dropped and I was dialated to 5 and starting to thin a little bit so she told me I had to wait 4hrs before she could try pitocin, well I walked around for awhile and they sat me in a rocking chair so I could still rock the baby down and be hooked up to the monitors, at this point my contractions started getting really hard and I am rocking and my fiance asks if it is okay for him to go to the bathroom, I told him yes because at this point I was still able to breathe through the contractions, so then I feel a contraction coming on and I am getting myself ready for it and right in the middle of the contraction BAM, my water bursts, I was soo happy, but it scared me so of course I scream "MARK" and he is washing his hands and he calmly says "what hun" and I said "MY WATER BROKE" and so he started freaking out, trying to find the nurse, well they got me cleaned up and into bed and checked me and I was 6cm and getting thin, so then boom all of a sudden my contractions hit me, I mean they were HARD, so they keep asking me if I want an epidural and I am screaming, YES YES YES. Well they had to page the guy to give it to me and about 10 mins later I am screaming like no other. I was then crying because I just knew I could not handle another contraction and they guy to give me the epidural was "on his way" well then I was screaming "I have to push, I HAVE TO PUSH" and they wanted to check me and when she did I was 10cm and ready to deliver, so she paged the doctor, it took everything I had to keep myself from pushing and wait for the doctor, I was screaming and crying and panting and finially the doctor got there and I delivered him at 8:15pm, I tore one very small internal tear, it took only 2-3 st_tches. I could not believe it, no pain medication or anything, it was soo unbelievable. Andrew was 8lbs 15oz 21 inches long. Very healthy and I still havent had to take anything for pain, I feel great. I am soo thankful I did it drug free, I felt everything and the doc said I was in awesome control and that is why I didnt tear this time around. Well everything is going good, cant wait to hear from you, I have to run to the store and pick up a few things. Talk to you soon.

Hi, congratulations Ashlie. I know exactly what you mean with those pessaries i only had 2 and refused another cause i had to wait 6hrs for each one and after the second one and still nothing they did absolutley c___p for me. Years ago it used to be in a gel form what they inserted inside and after one of those i was in labour within 2hrs but that was 12yrs ago. Andrew is my nephews name and also Pauls brothers. Im glad you had a nice birth, god he is a big fella isnt he. I can still remember that feeling of relief when Ryan slid out all that pain gone. Having a bit of trouble with his feeds at the moment,he was really settled in hospital and really quiet, now he,s a nightmare keeps screaming and is only having up to half his feeds so he,s hungry again after 2hrs. With Paul working nights were only getting about 4-5hrs sleep a night. I have to ring the childrens hospital every week cause there monitoring his feeds as he,s had to have a tube feed off them before and they have to keep an eye on his weight in the run up to his operation. Hope your getting more rest than us haha. Still not stopped bleeding yet, sick of wearing towels and midwife said ive still got a st_tch left that hasnt desolved. Anyway catch up with you soon, give Andrew a hug off me. x

I had an episiotomy with a 3rd degree tear. I only have 1 child so not sure what'll happen. My sister had two children in the 7 pound range and she tore but no episiotomy. Her third child was over 9 pounds and no tearing at all. I thought that was strange. I'm sure it's stressful to think about going through that again but what can you do? You will get through it no matter what happens. My problem was that I pushed for 3 hours and it hurt so bad. I'm so afraid to get pregnant again and have to go through such a hard labor. I think I will be stressing just like you until it's over with. Good luck.

I had my first son a little over a month ago. I had to be induced because I slipped and pulled all my v____al muscles. I had MANY epidurals and I was in so much pain I don't remember a lot of the labor. I eventually ended up in OR for a forcepts delivery or C-section if I couldn't push the baby out. I had to have a episiotomy. I ended up pushing my son out. However I ended up with a very bad third degree tearing and a___l sphyntor (sp.!?) tear. I couldn't walk after delivery and was in the hospital for a week. I am starting to feel back to normal although my a__s still doesn't feel right. I am considering having s_x again with my husband, but I'm so nervous. I hope that my second child isn't this bad! Good luck to those of you about to deliver. Anyone else have a bad tearing ordeal like me?
