Hello, I am 40 wks and baby's head is still not engaged. This is my first baby. Does this mean I wont have a va___al birth? Doctor does not want to induce since the baby's head has not engaged.
He is preferring ceasearean.
Has this happened to anyone or do you have any tips to bring about labor naturally??

Is you're baby breech (head's up), or just hasn't dropped? Because if he/she is breech then they can try to turn the baby and if he still doesn't go head down, then they'll have to do a c-section. But if your baby is "head's down" and just hasn't dropped, they can still induce you, but they might wait til you're a week over your due date. I had to be induced with my first baby. She never dropped and they just went ahead and induced me. It was a long labor, but most first-time labors usually are. Good luck!

I have heard of that condition and the reason your doctor want to do a c-section if he didn't explain it to you is that because the baby's head is not firmly pressing against the cervix there is a chance that if he were to induce that hte cord could deliver before the baby cutting off air supply and be very dangerous for the baby .....so I would not advise trying to go into labor naturally.....it's a pretty serious condition and while some doctors are quick to jump to c-section your doctor really is wanting to do what is best for you and your baby good luck!
