Hi, I'm 37 weeks pregnant with lots of braxton hicks contractions. I'm dialated to a 21/2 and 60% effaced. This is my 3rd daughter, but I've never actually gone into labor. I was induced both times. Someone told me that braxton hicks contractions are different than real ones. Anybody know?

Yes I have heard that braxtons are for the most part not painful and they are also not regular, like real labor contractions.

braxton's feel more like inflating balloon feeling---real contractions tend to involve the back and comes around your sides over to your tummy--making it really tight.
good way of knowing is to either lay down or go for a walk, a change of activity will either make the braxton hicks go away or the real contractions start up.

i kno everyone says this.. but when you start having real contractions you`ll know!! because.... they HURT! i have a really high tolerance for pain and when i went into labor a couple weeks ago the contractions HURT!! they didnt get better or subside.. they just got worse!! but you'll get through it
