I'm3 days past due date and am having the usual PSD and back ache baby is really active which is good, but I dont feel like labour is anywhere near...can it just come within minutes or should I expect several days of omens and signs?

Well, I never had any cramps or contractions and baby was up so high. I didn;t have a single sign that anything was coming (I was 2 days overdue) when my water broke. It totally took me by surprise. Evern after that I had no contractions and they had to induce them, and in the end he still wouldn;t drop and I had a c-section, lol.......but yeah, it can definately sneak up on you with no warning! :P

Definitely. My my first, I didn't lose the plug, have backache, Braxton Hicks or anything. 4 days early, I was in hospital for my gest. diabetes when my waters broke at 3.30am. A midwife examined me and I was at the "pushing" stage already and bubby arrived at 5.30am! I am worried about how it might happen with my 2nd!

Absolutely! With my third birth, I felt a definite contraction at around 6pm, just one. I'd been told by the hospital to not mess around and get straight to the hospital after a two hour labour with my second. Naturally, I didn't...rang the hospital, they said if I want to come in, otherwise I can stay at home if I like...a few minutes after midnight, an almighty contraction knocked the stuffing out of me. Then another one a few minutes later, then just simply pain after pain until they meshed into one long contraction. My daughter was born in the car barely in the hospital carpark 40 minutes later. Yeah, it can sneak up on you. What a bugger of a thing. But a lovely reward at the end!
