Can You Request An Induction

I'm 38w2d and i go to the doctors again monday and i think im going to ask if i can request an induction? Will they do that? I know it probably depends on your doctor.. but have any of you had an induction at this time? I had a sonogram at 37w4d and she was 6.5pds and I was dialated 2cm. Its just SO hot out, im so exhausted and i'm a really small person and im scared a big baby wont fit through my small hips ...

my dr. told me i could be induced at 38 weeks...so when i went to the doctor on the 9th..i had the idea that i'd be induced. low and behold...my doctor decided to be a 'jerk' and told me he won't induce me now until the 30th!! i'm due on the 23rd. so...i guess it depends on your dr. because my mom was induced with 2 of us, and her dr. asked her. good luck!!

i went to the doctor with my first, on my due date and asked to be induced. he kinda chuckled, i guess they get asked alot. But they wont do it if everything is going fine. they will induce you if you go to far past your due date, where im from that is no more than 10 days, some places are 2 weeks i guess.

I actually requested mine. But i was 4.5 cm also and 100% effaced and 39 weeks and 3 days! so yeah i requested mine! and i only had a labor from 6 am-1:21 pm! so not that long! i was lucky! GL

iimsooflyx0... Yeah your doctor should do an induction. My husband and I asked our doctor, we just told him that my husband was going to be out of town during the due date and he went and induced me. I thought I was 39 weeks pregnant, but the tests they did showed I was 41 weeks. My husband's cousin had her baby 2 days before our's and she asked the doctor and he induced her too and her son weighed 6lbs. Let us know what happened. Good Luck.
