So i am having these contractions about 3 to 4 an hour, they are different than the Braxton Hicks ones I have been having for a couple months. I am 38 weeks and 4 cm dialated on Thursday, I know that I could still have a couple more weeks and stay 4 cm, but I'm concerned about these contractions. They are painful, yet not as painful as the contractions I had the night my daughter was born 5 years ago. They feel like really bad gas/menstrual cramps in my groin area and kinda come on like a wave. I've been having them like this for about 24 hours now. If i could still go all the way to my due date (Aug 3) am I gonna be having these until then?! I don't think I can stand it! Any one experience these as often as I am having them and could they mean that the baby is coming soon?!

I think i'd be calling the doctor and getting checked out. Every labor experience is different, even from child to child, and you could very well be in labor, especially if they've been regular for 24 hours. my doctor told me anytime you're having 4 or more contractions an hour for over two hours, to get checked out.

Yes, I think you are probably right about getting checked out. It's a few hours later now since I posted the last question and the contractions are getting progressively more painful and about every 10 minutes. Unfortunately it is almost 10 pm so I'll have to go to the ER instead and I've heard horror stories about the hospital sending you home when you really are in labor! But, I think I'll give it about another hour and see if they subside or become more frequent then head that way! Thanks for your input!

No problem. Good luck! I'm due today and so far no sign of anything happening, so I'm living vicariously through all you women who seem to be in labor!!! :o)
