Does All This Mean Any Day

Hello ladies! I went to the Dr. today and Im 1 cm dilated, 50% effaced and my bag of waters were bulging through the dilation! So I let my midwife strip my membranes so she can hopefully deliver my baby and not the OB GYN. She expects I won't go past Sunday and lastest would be Tues. There was blood when she did it and said thats a good sign. Oh and I lost 3 lbs since yesterday!!! I was there yesterday and they weighed me. What do you all think- will I probably go? I know you cant tell for sure- but the anticipation is killing me!

there really is no way of knowing. sometimes stripping the membranes works and other times it doesn't. If it does work, it usually works within a few hours to 24 hours because of the hormones that are released at the time of the sweep.......being dialated and effaced really doesn't mean anything, you can walk around for weeks being dialated and effaced...I was 3cm and 100% effaced at 36 weeks and stayed that way until 39 weeks when I was induced.

My doctor also told me I was 50% effaced and 1 cm dilated...I took this as labor could be weeks away being only 1 cm...is this true or can everything change just like that?

I think it could all change like that. But it wasnt just the fact I was effaced 50% or 1 cm dilated- I lost 3 lbs in 1 day and I've been having contractions (very strong) 5 or 6 days now...So I believe thats why they told me they didnt expect me to carry him more than 4 or 5 more days.
