Ok. So i think i lost my mucus plug this morning. Then allllll day long i've been having braxton hicks contractions and for the last 2 days i have been pooping like crazy. Does this mean it is happening SOON SOON or in a few weeks? I'm 36w 4 days.
I don't know where but i read that when you are getting ready for labor (like it is going to happen in a few days) you get diahrea? Any comments will help PLEASE.

Labor is a tricky tricky thing. I've had SEVERAL false alarms and I've gotten my hopes up too high only to have my spirits crushed when I felt better. I've had a mild case of diahhrea and slugish bowels for the past 2 weeks or so. I also lost my plug a week ago exactly. Another thing that's been throwing ME off is that I've had a few specks of blood here and there with my mucous discharge. It's hard to say wether it'll happen soon, or in a few weeks. But this is for sure....... when it starts, you will know because the pain will only get worse. This is my first baby, but I've read and heard this many times. I'm due sept. 7th, if not, I will get induced the 14th. I'm really hoping to have him before then so I'm trying everything to naturally induce except castor oil because it scares me. =)

Dear Jess,
*keep in mind I am NOT a doctor or nurse, and you should always refer to your practicitioner before taking anyone else's advice. BUT, -from my experience I can help a little bit.
Your mucous plug can either come out all at once, and will be egglike in substance and could be tinged wtih pink from blood. Or, it can come out in little pieces. 36 weeks-well, you are almost 37, is early but still considered in the "safe range" to deliver a baby. Yes, all of the above signs are indications that it is about to happen soon-but soon can be tomorrow next week or the following. The reason why you are pooing like crazy is because the baby has dropped, getting ready for delivery, thus freeing up the space your intestines haven't had in a while to release some of what has been trapped for a while. I suspect it's right around the corner for you my dear-but until your water breaks, you are still in waiting. You will know the real contractions when they come-the cramping is that of a severe diahrea attack, or, a very bad cramping period, and will extend around your lower back from your front. Your tummy will rise and tighten very hard with each contraction, and you will not be able to talk when it happens. I a excited for you, and I am sure that you are now going weekly to see your obgyn, since you are so close.
He or she will determine how far along you are by examining how dilated or effaced you may be during your physical exam. I hope what I have shared with you has helped. If you would like tot alk to me personally my email is lelia_georgopoulos1972@yahoo.com. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!!

hey carol I tried castor oil---it wasn't as scary as people make it out---and I HAD THE BEST NIGHTS SLEEP EVER after it--my system feels all cleared out. The baby still isn't here, but contractions have started up a bit---we'll see!

Castor oil eh? That's the one thing I have not yet tried. I'm debating on whether I should or shouldn't do it. It's good to hear that if went well for you. I on the other side, am weak. I tend to have strong reactions to things. But so far, I haven't had ANY reactions to anything that I've tried so who knows. I might just get brave enough. I can handle the poops, but the throwing up, I dunno if I can do.

I had some neasuea for about 45 minutes or so...I washed my mouth out with mouth wash and it dissapated soon after. I don't like vomiting either!! I think it's REALLY a personal decision..you have to be comfortable with it--

Dear Jess...Your mucous plug will continue to "re-make" itself if you will until you deliver. Your body begins producing the plug from the time you get pregnant until baby comes, more or less. With my first preg. I lost my mucous plug twice within a 3 week period. The first time at 36 weeks and the second at 37 weeks. I was induced at 38 weeks because I was dilated at a 4 and was ready. So good luck! As far as the bowels I didn't have that but I believe that has something to do with the way your body works.
