Hi all .. my first pregnancy.. and right now in 3rd trimester....just a few questions more....do they make you completely naked at the labour room ? do they tie you up ? and like do you kind of need to pee or poo during labour ??

HI, they put you in a hospital gown and they do not tye you down. I had to pee every 10 min, that is when i was taking the gas and you can not take that to the loo with you. I also found as soon as i did pee the contractions started and i had nothing for the pain as the gas was near the bed. Just thought i would fill you in on the loo thing, i dont know if that happend any else?

With my last pregnancy. I had to pee evry contraction or at least i thought I did. Once the baby moves down it puts alot of pressue on your bladder. None of that is really going to matter once you are there anyways dont worry about it. the only thing you are going to want is to get the baby out.LOL they do not tie you down and you have on a gown. Some people do poop during labor but it is nothing big you are having a baby it is to be expected. try not to worry too much i know it is hard with your first but the more relaxed you are going in the easier the labor. My last birth it was time to push but I felt like i had to go to the bathroom and the doctor told me ohh well lay down if you have to you are going to do it right here.lol

you are defintaly not naked from the waste up, but your bum will be showing at some point in time, but trust me when i say by the time that point come, you dont really care, you just want it to be over. you are not tied up, either your feet sit in the holders up in the air, or they may have you lay on your side holding your one leg up high to your chest. With all the pushing you are dong, it has been know ladies will pee or have a small bowl movement, you wont have any idea about it, and im sure the doctors wont say anything to you either, they are used to it. not everyone does it, For the 13 hours i was in labor, i didnt feel the need to go to the washroom once, but everyone is a little different.

Kristie h - So do they let you go to the loo or do we just hae to pa__s it there it self in to a bag or anything? Dedaa- no way i am gonna do that :-( eeek!! i will make sure i empty it before i go in to that room! tyler0323 - Oh i sure hope i dont have to either! Which position do you think is much easier ? One leg up or both on holders ?

tyler0323 - October 5

i did the one leg up because there were complications, im not sure if either way is easier, it may just be what you are most comfortable with. as for the bathroom, they will let you go im sure and as for a bowl movment, i doubt it. It may be just that you have a feeling to go, not that you really have too. i do suggest going to the bathroom at home before you go to the hospital (dont strain on the potty though) You wont be eating or drinking while you are in labor so i would not worry to much about having to go.

If you have an epidural, they put a cathedar in. If not, you can go pee. However, when you are pushing, there is no guarantee that you won't poop. I did, and honestly, I didn't give a d__n!

I had a walking epidural and was hterefore allowwed to still go to the bathroom on my own. I did so rather frequently (atleast once every 45 minutes). When it came time to push it was me trying t rip of any and all clothing to get on with it!!! During contractions I held my own legs with the a__sistance of a nurse and my mother and no I did not have a bowel movement. I attribute this tot eh fact that I was induced so I was told not to eat anything from 9pm the night before and the nerves made me go before I left for the hospital. I can honestly say though even if I had it would have been no biggie, I was working way to hard to care!

hello snowbaby. it all depends on the hospital and the situation. sometimes you are allowed to go to the bathroom, sometimes not. with my 1st child i had to pee with each contraction and i told them i will not go in a potty thing, i want to to the bathroom so they let me. but sometimes they won't let you. many hospitals make you have an enema before going into the delivery room so you won't have to have a bowel movement. but even if you do have one, nobody cares and you probably won't even notice. good luck!

They put a catheter for me and it turned out that I kept peeing and peeing and peeing for a long time and I couldn't control it ! I guess because of the epidural! I didn't poop maybe because I had only a light breaskfast that morning and hadn't have anything after...I admitted myself to the hospital at 12:30pm and had my baby at 9pm. I had a hospital gown on with nothing underneath but believe me when you get ready to pushing you really don't care what you are wearing!!
