Hey ladies, Just a fun fact about mucus plugs...not everyone has them. Some women just get more discharge than normal, some have small pieces come out little at a time and some have a big ol clump that comes out all at once. The kicer is...not everyone has these "plugs" and losing it does not necessarily mena that you are going into labor. It could be weeks or days before you do. It is better to go on either the water breaking or contractions to see is you are in labor. Good luck!

Thank you! I was so worried it was just me. I know I am effacing and dilating, but still have seen no sign of a mucus plug. I have had a little more discharge than usual that is kind of slimy (tmi, sorry) but other than that nothing! Good to know I am not crazy!

You must mean that not all women lose their plug as a "plug". You're right some women never see anything, but ALL women do have them while pregnant. It corks up the cervix to prevent any germs/ foreign bodies from getting into the uterus. The plug usually gets discharged when dilation reaches 2-3 cm. Some women do lose them early but they will typically re-form. But no, not everyone will actually SEE when they lose their plugs and it is not an immediate sign of labor.

I was dilating/effacing some, about 1 cm 75% effaced, before I went into labor and I didn't lose my plug until I was already in labor for a while, I lost 2 big clumps on 2 separate occasions.
