I am so scared that I'm going to have a bowel movement during labor! How many of you have/haven't? I know, I know...everyone says it doesn't matter. But it matters to me, and when asking a relative of mine who had it happen, she said it REALLY mattered to her!

Perhaps you could ask for an enema when you are first admitted during labour? That way there wont be anything left in there to come out. It's something that you otherwise have no control over.

I did with both my children... and ok at the time you dont care but after yes it is a little embarra__sing especial with your hubby watching.... I was all cleaned out (sorry gross) before I went to labour... I had castor oil and trust me there was nothing left in there!!..lol... and still all the pressure of it managed to squeeze out a poop.... (lovely I know) I guess that its just a part of it and you wont even know that you are doind it... you will have other things on your mind!!! TRUST ME YOU WILL!!!

My first and second babies I didn't, but the third one I did. I was embarra__sed (especially now), but what can you do about it? My SO and BF were in the room, but they know I couldn't help it.

i dont even know if i did, labour is so painfull i couldnt get off the bed after my waters broke i kept feeling trickles of water, i thought mabie im peeing but i didnt care, same about pooing, the action of pushing out a baby is to push like your having a bowel movement, it feels like pooing a football, the last thing on your mind is are you pooing, who cares, its so normal, the midwives wont care, my husband wasnt right down there so neither of us know if i did

that enema thing that "twist" was talking about.. can you get that at any hospital? anywhere? even Canada... cause i have the exact same fear and i will SOO care when its happening and ill start to cry and it will just make pushing seem harder, plus ill REALLY care after. and also that enema thing doesnt cost money right?

Unless you have a mirror so you can see the birth, you will have no idea if you poo at all. You won't notice it. The contractions take over and all you know is PUSH PUSH PUSH. so if you Do poo, unless you have your insensitive hubby down there and he makes a comment, no one but the doc will know, and the nurses swipe anything out of the way so fast that no one even registers that it happened.

I had my son at home, and yup - I pooped. I didn't care at the time, and truthfully still don't - that was the very least of my concerns at the time. My husband has never let me forget that he saw me poop on our bed though - thankfully he laughs about that part and mainly just admires me very much for enduring such an extreme experience. If it happens, know that you are not alone, and that in the moment you won't give a cr*p!
