HELP Question About Contractions

Hi. I am 35 weeks and have been having contractions for a week and a half now. I was examined last four days ago and I was 3 cm dialated and 80% effaced. I also first lost my mucus plug a week ago, but also parts of it over the past week as well. I can not sleep through the night and I have been on bedrest for a week and a half. My stomach just feels tired and achy all the time, and my contractions do not go away. I was told not to come back until I could not talk through the contractions or my water broke. Anyone have any advice or have a thought on how far from labor I am???

OMG. That is exactly what happened to me...I contracted every 5 min for the last 7 wks or so of my pregnancy...and I delivered at 37 wks. Prior to 37 wks, they kept telling me to come in and they gave me a shot that stopped the contracts for a while in between. They always came back though. I feel really bad for you because I know how sore it is to have repit_tious weak contractions that won't stop. I think that you are really close to labor and that's why you are on bed rest.... walking brings it on strong. I know you want it out!!! BUT, don't do anything to hurt the baby on purpose...because it really should stay in as long as possible to have fully developed lungs. I was really lucky that mine stayed put as long as she did.

Thank you for replying. I am sore, and as much as I say I can't wait for her to come, I know it is better for her to stay in as long as possible. I actually have been doing really well and staying on the couch or in bed for pretty much of the day. I usually just fold a basket of laundry once a day or load the dishwasher. I think that is light enough... I don't carry the basket of clothes or anything. I am 36 weeks today, so hopefully whenever she comes she will be okay. Thank you for your imput! I have been waiting for someone to tell me they have had a similar story :)

HI!! Glad you are doing ok! I just read my note again and i meant to say not to do anything that could hurt not to hurt....sorry for the typo....but it sounds like you figured out my scatter brain. :o) Anyway...the end is near!!! I remember I ended up getting high blood pressure from all the contractions... hopefully you are ok in that regards....Keep me posted! GL!

it is common for some women to be able to talk though their contractions so it you are that un comfortable i would call you ob and if you are pa__sing clots that may or may not be part of the plug you should let him/her know i lost my plug with my first daughter a week before my water broke and they told me the same because of irregular contractions i spent 4 days at home in full labor because they said they were irregular so if you think you should go to the hospital go

just an update.... I'm still pregnant and now beginning my 38th week. Only 15 more days until my due date. I still have contractions, but just really uncomfortable. I was supposed to have a Dr. appt. yesterday, but the weather was so bad around here that they were out of power and will have to reschedule.
