IS THERE ANY WAY TO BREAK MY OWN WATER? I'M DUE 7/7/07.
I'M CONSIDERED FULL TERM.
THE DOCTORS DO HAVE TO INDUCE YOUR LABOR AFTER 24 HOURS OF YOUR WATER BREAKING TO PREVENT INFECTION TO THE BABY AND MOM.

I believe that most health care professionals would not agree with you trying to rupture your own membranes. When it is done in the hospital setting they use sterile technique and equipment and also monitor the status of the child in case of fetal distress or worst case, prolapsed cord, which requires a STAT C-Section. I am a nurse, not in OB, but nurses in general take the infection threat pretty seriously. Trust me, it is not something that you want with a baby with an immature immune system. If you want to kick start labor, try walking, squatting, or look up online some recommended and safe natural labor inducers. Otherwise just be patient, babies come when they are ready. I still have 5 days until my due date and nothing yet....sigh.

I don't know how to break your water. I have thought of that myself but I think I'll leave that to the professionals. I have been reading about acupressure. They say there is points they can't use during pregnancy because it can induce labor. I'm going to try them because I refuse to take anything that may harm my baby. You could work them in with a ma__sage. If they don't work then at least you got a ma__sage. childbirthsolutions.com/articles/birth/acupressure/index.php

You don't. That could be dangerous to do on your own. Only a doctor should perform breaking you bag of waters. They use a special instument for that. If you tried it on your own you could casue damage to yourself and risk infection to the baby.

Babyfive, I am due July 11th and I feel your pain and eagerness to meet your little one but I don't think its wise to try to break your own water. I honestly believe that when your baby is physically ready, he/she will come! GL!

I don't think any of those "natural" labor induction things work unless you are ready. I have tried everything I have read that I thought was safe but nothing....4 days to go.

Why would you want to? There are so many things that could happen to both you and the baby...I would seriously reconsider this idea. Relax and know that here, very quickly you and baby will get to meet! I know it is hard...(I have had 6 babies) but be safe so that you don't harm your little one.

The walking and squatting should itleast move things faster. You might not go straight into labor, but they can help drop the baby faster.

why would you want to do that? are you that uncomfortable or just anxious? i heard of women talking stuff to induce their own labor but this is really out there. good luck to you, i hope for a very safe delivery for you!

don't be trying to break your own water! You're not even at your due date yet! The baby will come when it is good and ready to come!

Very bad idea, but I guess we covered that. Breaking your own water (if that can even be done) would harm your baby. THe fluid protects the baby and when your body is ready to have the baby, your water will break. Once it does, the baby is in jeaprody of germs and infections and is no longer protected by the cusion of the fluid. Be patient, I know it is hard!

simple answer: you don't! End of. You could cause extremely bad complications for both you and your little one. As said previously, your little one will come when it's good and ready, and if it needs a little a__sistance, the proffesionals will see to it that your waters are broken using sterile equipment in a sterile environment. Please leave it to mother nature - or to the people who know exactly what they are doing!!
