I have been back to the hospital again... with false labor. This time I had regular contractions at home for 9 hours and then felt alot of pressure so went in only to be in there for another 6 hours and have my labor stop. I'm so worried about the babies health. This can not be good for her. Basically I was told keep coming back but that they couldn't induce unless there was a medical emergency or I was at least 10 days overdue - due to bed shortages! Has anyone had false labor like this go on for more than a month? Was the baby okay when it was born - please assurance would be so appreciated I'm so scared - I had a little girl pass 2 hours after she was born in 2001 due to a bad heart and I'm so scared that this baby will suffer from all these "false contractions".

I've never had anything like this happen but I don't think anything will happen to your baby. People get BH contractions all of the time and their babies are okay. Besides, I'm sure that if their was any real danger, your doctor would know.

tbsbaby, I'm so sorry. I can somewhat relate to the frustration of false labor. With my 3-year-old, I had several days of back to back contractions, only to be told to go home. This time, I figured "I'll know when it's real because I've been through this before." Yesterday, I had contractions for over two hours and stopped, and the same the day before. They were getting strong, and I could feel them in my back and down my legs. Then, I got to the hospital and they stopped. And I hadn't changed any since the day before -- still 1 1/2 cm dilated. Of course, the ladies in the a__sessment center were rude as well, which made things worse. One actually said, "Is this your first baby?" and when I said no, she said, "Well, then you should know better." I know she was kind of joking, but it still p__sed me off. Anyway, I'm so sorry about your little girl in 2001. That's absolutely awful. I lost two because of fatal birth defects, so I can somewhat relate. Mine were in 2001 and 2002. Did you know beforehand about her heart from ultrasounds? Because if so, I'd say that if everything checks out with this baby, I don't think contractions are going to hurt the baby. I'm no expert, though.

Thanks for the words of encouragement girls I appreciate it.
I went for a biophysical on the baby today and she's 7 pounds 6 ozs and doing well so I think that so far all these false alarms arn't affecting her. I'm really hoping it's soon though - last night I had period like cramps all night long and then this am lost my plug - YEAH!
Cindernar I'm sorry to hear of your losses as well - you must be a strong person, I would never have handled it happening twice. Yes we did know that she had a heart defect prior to her being born but the drs were optimistic and really thought that they could operate. Again thanks for the advice and I hope my next post is a birth announcement lol
