I posted basically the same thing over in the third trimester board, but nobody really answered, maybe someone over here will see it. So I had contractions all day yesterday 5 min apart, and around 10pm I went to the hospital. A week ago I wasn't dilated at all and yesterday morning at my dr. appointment I was dilated to a 1. I get checked at the hospital and she says I'm dilated to a 2, I tell her that I was dilated to a 1 earlier that day, and for some reason she said I was 1.5 cm instead of 2. After having contractions (painful ones by the way) for 3 hours I get sent home and they say its nothing. My nurse told me she was really hoping I was in labor and hopes to be my nurse when I do deliver, which is really nice. And she also said that this may very well be the beginning of labor. I don't know what to think. I haven't had as many contractions today, but I'm getting this dull feeling in my back. I'm actually upset because I was hoping I'd be holding my little girl right now instead of writing this. My family is seriously getting their hopes up, saying its only gonna be a couple of days...What do you guys think? Should I be getting excited? Or was this just a complete false alarm?

I would say it's not a false alarm. How far on are you? t sounds like you are in labour - slow labour - and it caould still be a few days yet. If the contractions ave lessened then it sounds like your body is trying to get itself into a pattern. They have probably sent you home in the hope of being in familiar suroundings you will relax and things will happen naturally. What the 1.5cm probably meant is that you are not quite two. Did she say whether your cervix has changed or not?

I'm almost 37 weeks, but I had my first at 36 weeks, that's why I really wouldn't be suprised at labor this early. My cervix didn't change in the hospital, but I had dilated the .5 or whatever during that day, and I was checked a week before my appointment and I hadn't dilated at all. I kinda thought the 1 came kinda quick. Well, I hope you're right!

Your cervix will always be slightly open due to having children before and can measure aprox 1cm. I know mine does so then didn't determine that I was in labour until I was around the 3-4cm mark. However once you start to dilate it usually does go a little quicker than your first. My first was born at 34 weeks, my 2nd at 40+6 and my third at 37 weeks due to being induced.

I had gone to the hospital at 34 weeks because I thought my water was leaking (And believe me, I feel so stupid for going in a couple weeks later lol) And they said I was completely closed. Thanks, I'm happy somebody had some advice, I'm just getting really anxious!

From what I've read just before you go into labor your body empties your bowels, or maybe its just something u ate lol. I'm sure you're fine!
