Period Question After Labour

I know you bleed for a lng time after labour. I am normally a tampon wearer as maxi-pads tend to give me a rash. So you can imagine my joy at what to expect after labour, lol......anyway, I was wondering if normal maxipads are what we wear after or is it something different? Should I stock up on something now before I give birth? What if the water breaks? Does a pad help with that? Silly questions I know, but I haven't worn a pad in like 15 years, lol.

thats probably a good idea... cuz you probably wont wanna wear a tampon that soon after birth.. and as for your water breaking.. not sure about that

While your in the hospitla they will give you theses huge maxi pads...they are big and bulky but you need them. Other wise youd be changing it like every half hour. They will let you take some home with you. After the bleeding slows a regular maxi should be all that you need. Now this is not for your period. You wont have a regular period for a while after the bleeding from giving birth is done. (well its not from giving birth...is just all that was stored up for the baby....that has to come out so its like a period but its not....hard to explain) anyways for a while after you wont have a regular period. Especially if you plan to b___st feed. I b___st fed both my son and daughter for 6 months (would have been longer but i dried up) I didnt get a perio again for another month and a half after i stopped b___stfeeding. Then my period was irregular for acouple of months sfter that. By that time you shouldnt have any problems going back to tampons.

Hi Bonnie, with my first child they gave me those grown up diapers I know how unatractive but you don't have to worry about any messes, with my second they just gave me maxi pads. I have never used a tampon I don't know what it is but i'm scared to stick it up there. So i'm not sure about wearing a tampon after birth.

Right after labor they wont allow you to use tampons...nothing up there for 6 weeks

Thanks guys, I knew it would be about 6 weeks. I hope I can find something that wont give me a rash (those Always Dryweave ones were the worst). I just wasn't sure if it was normal maxi pads we use or something different.

You can go to www.lunapads.com and get washable cotton pads. They probably won't give you a rash. Also, I think Seventh Generation makes perfume free, no dye pads as well.
