I'm 40 weeks and I'm NOT dialated or dropped and I'm only 30% effeced and I spoke with the doctor to see how long I have to wait until I'm induced and she said that it wouldn't be good idea to get induced b/c I'm not dialated and my cervix is not matured and that it can lead to C section, so that it would be best for me to just keep waiting and stick it out to deliver naturally instead of ending up w/ a C section, for mom's out there, is this really true??? Can you NOT be induced if you are NOT dialated at all???
Thanks for your answer!

I would never want to be induced again. I was almost 41 weeks, 2 cm dilated and everything else was completely ready so they scheduled me to get induced and it failed the 1st time-- Here's my story-I went into be induced ona Monday at 8 pm and didn't have the baby until Wednesday at 1pm. They put cervadil on at 8 pm at night. ( I had been dilated to 2 cm and fully softened and dropped for about 3 weeks ) They started pitocin at 5 am, I was on it until 12 having hard contractions and never dilated anymore. They told me that I could come home or just do it again that night. I didn't want to go home w/o my baby so they started the same thing Tuesday night. I had contractions all day until they started the cervadil again. I had contractions all night until 5am and I wasn't allowed to have epi. Finally I had dilated to about 5 cm by 5 am and they gave me the epidural. After that I felt nothing and it was wonderful! She was born at 12:56 pm. I'm not trying to scare anyone but I'm not going to lie, it was awful. BUT if it would have worked the first time it wouldn't have been bad. The 2nd day was great. I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat though. Good luck!

I was induced at 37weeks due to pregnancy cholostasis with my third baby. I was not dilated or softened even though my cervix will always feel slightly open due to having children before. They gace me a gel at 6am on 11th April 2006. I had contractions all day but nothing awful and not regular. They gave me another gel at 6pm and I had contractions on and off all night. Again nothing really painful and they stopped around 4am. They checked me at 6am and I was finally dilated enough for them to break my waters(3cm). They moved me to delivery at 12noon, broke my waters but had to put up a pitocin drip because there wasn't a single cramp let alone contraction at 1pm. I delivered baby Logan weighing 7lbs at 6.50pm. The labour was very easy and I relied on Gas&Air (Entonox) from about 5pm onwards. If you have a husband/partner drag him into bed. His delightful little swimmers could get you into labour - especially since you are definitely at term! I had my first baby at 34 weeks and was 6cms befre I knew I was in labour, my second was a nightmare labour (stuff people would love to do to frighten you!) and I was 40+6 when I went into labour. He did not desend until I was ready to push! Is this your first? Good luck!
