Should I Do The Induction Please Help

I am 38 and a half weeks along and have a high risk pregnancy due to lupus and autoimmune thyroid disease. My pregnancy has been relatively uneventful (my problems actually seemed better) until about 36 weeks. My blood pressure is steadily rising (it's about 150/95 consistently now), but I don't have protein in the urine yet. My hands, feet, and face are terribly swollen no matter what I do, and I am PACKING on the pounds (like 8 pounds in four days) despite not eating much at all. I went to the doc today and they said they would induce me at the end of this week or beginning of next week (which would put me at about 39 weeks), but that I didn't have to if I wanted to wait. I haven't had any labor signs (no mucus plug, only mild cramping and some stabbing pains) and the baby still seems pretty high. I have read a lot of induction stories and some are good, some bad, but what I'm wondering is what anyone's experience was with an induction BEFORE the due date and with little progression prior to induction. I could really use some advice about this. I want to do the induction because I'm miserable and I'm worried that waiting will cause more health problems, but I don't want problems with the delivery because I forced it. Please give me advice!!

I was induced at 38 weeks. The whole thing took 3 hours start to finish & wasnt that bad at all. Compared to my 12 hour natural labour I think inductions is far better so dont be afraid :)

Oh thank you, I've got myself all freaked out. I know it can go either way, but it's good to hear a positive story...so encouraging :)
