I am 9 months + 2 days and last night after my doctors appointment my DH & I decided to walk around the mall for an hour or 2, eat thai food, have s_x, drink rasp tea & I sat on the excersize ball for a while - while we were having s_x (round 2 lol) my mucus plug came out... that was pleasant - it was a 1/4 cup of yellowish snotty mucus - almost immediately I strted having regular contractions, but I could breathe through them - but not talk. they were about 5 minutes apart for a few hours, I called my doctor and she told me that if I could breath through them and possibly get some rest then I should wait... so I fell back to sleep and they stopped - very disappointing, but I think they would've sent me home and I am glad I waited. What freaks me out is that they were strong, they were close and I might be dialating - if they stop does that mean it was false labor or can it mean I am in true labor interupted?

I don't think true labor is interrupted. I would say false labor. Whenever I would wonder if I was really in labor I would lay down. If I fell asleep, I knew it wasn't real. I've been woken up by real labor. I would fall back to sleep in between contractions, but it got to where it was too painful and then I knew it was real. Too bad labor is such a guessing game. Good luck to you!

if you ever question it go in. the wrost they can do is send you home. i know everyone says you will KNOW it's true labor, but i really don't think i did with my first. i wound up at 40+5 having a c-section. now with my 2nd we took a refresher child birth and thinking back as they covered this signs of labor i was going uh huh, yup, had that.... i really think i was in labor but didn't know it. although it never progressed far enough because my baby was posterior. i stayed the same for over 2 weeks before they decided to do the c section. i had went into the hospital because i just couldn't take the pain any more. my point is- don't let anyone make you feel stupid for wanted to go in and get checked anyways!
