Is it okay to try and bring on labor even if you haven't started dilating yet? I am over 37 weeks pregnant but I haven't dilated any!

hey there. im 38 weeks. and i dont think i dilated either. the last time i check at the dr's. at 37 weeks and 36 weeks; the dr said i never dilated yet not even a bit. she only could feel on her fingertip. i tried walking and having s_x. but it gave the braxton hicks contractions, but it didnt get too serious. im just waiting for my contractions to get really serious. its just that the baby is not ready yet. im in the same boat, because i want to give birth already and i cant wait another day nor another week. at least our baby is fully developed and pa__sed that premature weeks.
all i know just do more lots of walking and have s_x. enjoy it now and when baby is out there wont be time for all of that.

just hang in there - there isn't a lot you can do to bring on labor, only help it once it's actually started. I'm 39 weeks on Monday and have been dilated at 3-4cm and 80% effaced for the last 2 1/2 weeks and NOTHING is getting him out. :) He will come when he's ready I guess. And yes, enjoy your time now while you have it because you'll miss it when it's gone! I have a 20 month old daughter and man, I really miss just running to the store by myself sometimes! Oh, even though you haven't dilated any doesn't mean it can't happen quickly. A friend of mine wasn't at all and then bam, her water broke and she had her boy 6 hours later...others are dilated and effaced and go weeks like that and have long labors. It really doesnt' mean a whole lot unfortunately.
