hi..I'm 37 weeks 5 days pregnant with my 3rd child...i'm already at 4 cm and 50% effaced...i've seriously been considering using the castor oil..i've been thinking about it for a while now..it worked for my mom and i didn't try it with my other two...i'm just so ready for this one to be over with...i've been so miserable! Of course who wouldn't be with a 2 & 3 yr. old to run after and care for while you are preggo! : ) So i guess my ? is , should i try it? and what's the best way to do it?

2oz of castor oil with orange juice or Dr pepper. I tried it but it didnt work for me. A lot of cramping and running to the bathroom is all I got with it. If you want to try it thats up to you. It took me a long time to get the nerve up to try it. I went to 42 weeks and three days. I was then induced still had to have a c-section. The castor oil is only going to work if you and your baby are ready.

I wouldn't do it personally, while it may work for some people the side effect can be that it makes the baby have a bowel movement too which can be dangerous for him/her. I have heard too that for a lot of people all you get is a stomach ache. Other things to try might be nipple stimulation or s_x. I am getting towards the end too with my third baby so I so feel your pain! Good luck. Let us know if anything works for you.

Hi mommy2b3! Just like u I am very much ready for this baby and I think I might try castor oil tomorrow. I know of people who tried it and it worked for both my sister and her neighbour. As you are only 38 weeks gone I'm not sure how well it will work as the people i know that have taken it have been well past their due date. I'm 8 days over today and hope its gonna work 4 me as walking, s_x or membrane sweep hasn't worked 4 me. I've only got 5 days left until my induction date but really want to have this baby before then. I want the excitement of the labour starting at home and have heard that induction can be a quite long and painful experience. Lets face it- who wants to stay longer in hospital than needed????? I'll let you know what happens tomorrow.....
