Everyone's contractions wont feel the same. For myself, as bad as this sounds, it felt like I was in desperate need of a bowel movement I'd been holding for weeks. My friend's lamaze teacher said "If anyone tells you it feels lke you need to poop, they're lying." Well I can tell you she was WRONG !!! My friend agreed too, she was wrong. Even during delivery the nurses would say "push like yer poopin" This is the only kind of contraction I've ever had (with 3 kids) Never experienced the back labor and never felt pain in my belly or "yoohoo" Just all in the b___t. So I suppose from day 1 all my kids were pains in the b___t. *smile*

Yes, your uterus gets hard and it feels like a menstrual cramp/back ache in the beginning...then during transition it feels like your body needs to eject that little baby!

I was having pains in my lower stomach like I was constipated and I quit feeling the baby move. I called my doc. and he told me to get to the hospital ASAP. I was dialated to a 4. I had my baby 26 hrs later. I was only 31 weeks. Baby survived and is 9 yrs old now. I'm expecting my son in Oct.

It feels different to everyone, but it definitely felt like really bad menstrual cramps/bowel cramps to me. I remember someone telling me it felt like a knife in the stomach but I really didn't feel that. Just extremely painfully crampy!

It's hard to describe because I honestly can't remember. I know at the time it killed my back and I remember saying that I'd never do it again. Once I got the epidural I felt better till I hit 10 cm. and then I was in pain again. I don't think it would have been as bad if I didn't have to push for so long. If you are early in your pregnancy, I highly recommend baby yoga or something. I had stopped exercising after my first trimester. My legs were so fatigued after pushing and I kept getting really bad cramps/charlie horses in my upper thighs from pushing so long. My next baby (yes I'll do it again!) I will be in better shape and continue to exercise at least somewhat.
