The way medical costs are determined in the U.S. is very confusing. All I can tell you is that it is extremely expensive. If you want to know the actual price, best thing to do is call an OB's office. You can look on the web, but some quotes from a government site said that it costs $11,500 for uncomplicated c-section on average. Vaginal delivery is around $7000. Those costs are only cover labor. Expenses will acrue that you might not even consider. Lab tests alone will cost you anywhere from $30-$300. Ultrasound will cost around $500-$600. If you have any complications whatsoever, the costs will be out of control.

I should clarify, that each lab test costs anywhere from $30-$300. There are tons of lab tests done during pregnancy. Go to a local hospital and talk to a financial adviser or social worker to see what resources are available to you.

You might have better luck with a midwife than going through a hospital. Or try making your appointments through something like planned parenthood, where you pay on a sliding scale and they can do all your monthly appointments and the regular stuff. Also, I believe some states will cover pregnant mothers even if they aren't us citizens -- I'm pretty sure my friend qualified for a__sistance, she didn't have her green card yet and we live in wisconsin. Good luck!
