well 38 weeks prego, and have been reading what you all have said about castor oil and have decided to take it . i hope it works. wish me luck

Heather- I do wish you luck. I did this twice and it worked both times...hope your cervix is ripe, because if not, it'll just cause lots of diarrhea :(

i am 41 weeks and took castor oil a week ago and it didnt work it only made me sick

well i took the castor oil and nothing happened. it only gave me gas :o. i think i might try again in a few days. we'll see

Hi i took about an ounce at 1 today and another tablespoon at about 3, nothing so far...but i dont know if i took enough the doc said 1-4 oz so hopefully i did:) ill update if anything big happens

i believe that baby and everything else have to be ready for it to work.I tried it 3 times and nothing I'm still pregnant.

I have read almost all of these posts. It pretty much sounds like a hit and a miss for actually working. For the most part though it seems to work for the women and babies that are "ready". Well, I am only about 1 1/2 cm dialated and the dr said that my cervix is very soft BUT the baby is still pretty high. Do you think it would work for me? i am going to call tomorrow and see what they say, but I am curious to see what you guys have to say about it? thank you! Kim

41 weeks 1 day. 4pm Had s_x on couch. 430 pm Wife then took 2 oz Castrol Oil, 2 oz Kettle ONE Vodka, 2 oz OJ - Mixed well and slammed it from a pint gla__s. One little poop popped out immediately after drinking CO. 8pm Stomach then tightened because of gas. 10pm bloody show and maybe breaking water. Wife now lying in bed trying to get warm. Will update...

1045pm diahrea started along with more B. Show and contractions at 5 min. Still not sure if water broke. Trying to decide who to call to come and stay with our daughter. 1047 diahrea getting stronger. Hoping this is really labor and not just cramps from CO. Baby heart rate 135 via Doppler ($40/mo via internet.) Will update....

It's now 1254a - Wife just woke me up as contractions are getting stronger and longer. We are also doing this hypno-style. 4 miuntes a part and lasting 50 secs. Time to get ready...

Got to Hospital at 3:30 - totally closed and in full contractions. This went on until 6am. Still locked up like Fort Knox. The nurse said they'd give it another hour until going for the C-section. In another hour wife went from locked shut to 3cm. By 9 she was to 6-7 and baby was born 10:23. Baby 7lbs, 19 inches. Both wife and baby perfectly healthy. Wife did entire birth natural using Hypno-burthing tech. We're not sure if it was the Castor Oil, the s_x, the spicy food the night before, the Evening nightshade pills, the Red Rasberry Leaf Tea or the combination of Homiopather remedies she was taking. the bottom line is that she got the natural child birth she wanted and she says NO moe kids! I'm also a CNA, And have studied these things. Yes it can cause your baby to poop inside you which isn't good at all. But that's if you take to much. Taking to much can cause strong contractions "Bowl contractions" Causing you to strain yourself on pooping and having the runs cause straining of the abdomen as well. I would just take 1 Tbs once an hour try 1 Tbs at 1 hour then once more an hour later and wait about 2 hours for it to kick in "while your waiting that hour for contractions to start with first dose take a 30 min walk "outside or on treadmill".Come back in and take another dose.. If your contractions don't start after those two doses and 1 hour walk.. Take one more dose making it 3 and it should work.. I've recommended this to several patients in ER that were past 36 weeks pregnant.. And all came back same night or next night with a baby.. They were all healthy births..I wish everyone luck!!!

I can say from experiance that Castor oil (I don't know about mineral oil) tastes bad, is thick and oily and can easily make you gag. Plus there is a VERY high chance of getting the runs really bad (it's a laxitive). But on the upside, I have taken 6 Tablespoons over the last 3 days and I have been having some pretty strong contractions, lost my mucous plug and am dialated to almost 6 cm. However, I am being watched carefully by my Dr. taking the stuff can be kinda dangerous if your not careful. It tastes horrible, and you need to talk to your doc. but it seems to be working for me. i was 38 weeks pregnant with my son in the middle of summer i drank castor oil and 2 days later i had my son yes it will cause you to c___p alot. but i had success and so did one of my friends but i do reccomend that you drink it with orange juice because its so thick you dont want to drink it alone. 2 oz with a gla__s of juice
