during my first pregnancy, my doctor gave me an enema to clean me out during labor

I don't think you can avoid unless you get an enema. My nurse told me not to worry, we all do - and she cleaned it up any time it happened. Trust me - when it happens, you don't care...

To answer your question, I work on the OB unit at our hospital and I'd say 1 our of 3 deliveries people have a BM while giving birth. We are all so used to it, it's normal. Trust me, at the time, it will be the least of your worries.

Lol "corious"! I think the doctors/midwives are more worried about getting that baby out ASAP than the smell. I'm sure nothing that comes out of you at that time smells very pleasant! I'm sure after it's all said and done, the only thing you'll be thinking about is your new baby! =)

I have been worried about that too, and especially what my boyfriend would do if he saw it. but lately I have been introducing that kinda stuff into our relationship, now things are SO comfortable between us, that even if he saw it and smelt it, he wouldnt care at all, im not worried about it in the slightest anymore.. im just focused on delivering my gorgeous baby, that we have all been waiting for so patiently
