I just got back from my doc visit and he wants to induce me due to the baby's size, and cause our insurance may be ending soon. He said he's gonna use pitocin, and I've read some bad things about it, and now I'm scared stiff. Any reassuring news on the would help!

i was induced twice and i liked it. i found that it made my labor go alot faster than normal. 3 hours each. with my last one though the doctor wouldn't and i had to go natural and i ended up in labor for 2 days. but it does make your contractions come stronger and faster than they would naturally.

I WAS INDUCED WITH MY FIRST WITH PITOCIN AND HAD NO PROBLEMS AT ALL, BABY WAS FINE, I WAS INDUCED BECAUSE OF WORRY DUE TO BABY'S SIZE ALSO. IT DID MAKE LABOR GO FASTER FOR ME ALSO, BUT SOMETIMES IT DOES NOT... GOOD LUCK AND IT IS ONLY NATURAL TO BE WORRIED.

The pitocin usually take good as long as your'e cervix is ripened. If it's a scheduled induction they usually check you're cervix and sometimes will apply a cream or gel to help soften it before they start the contractions. you should ask to see what they do where your from.

I just gave birth to my baby girl in September... I had to induce because I was 11 days past my due date. I don't have anything to compare the pain to but it was pretty intense. I had no problems with the delivery at all.... Made it to 8 cm before I begged them for the epidural. I was in heaven then!! Don't be scared. Having a baby is the most natural thing a women can do and you WILL make it through it no matter how bad it hurts. That's what I had to tell myself. You will do great! I have one word for you....EPIDURAL!

I was induced w/ pitocin with my 1st. They started it at 6 am and my daughter wasn't born until 8 minutes before midnight. It was a long hard labor, and my doctor warned me it would be. Not fun, but you get through it.
