Hi, this is my first pregnancy im 34 weeks and at my last hospital visit the doctor said that my babys head is engaged already and that's not common at 34 wks. He said it should have happend in a few weeks time. Just wondering if anyones babys head was engaged earlier than normal and did they have their baby earlier than expected?

I went to my 34 week 5 day ultrasound and the baby was deeply engaged. His head was so far down and tilted to the side for birth that I never even got to see his face. The ob/gyn could barely even measure his head because of his position. Is it possible your dates are off? Because, they are reconsidering my baby's dates; I might be as much as 38 weeks. Either way, he said I wouldn't last more than a couple of weeks (2-3) based on the position of the baby. The baby being engaged early wont necessarily mean an early birth--especially considering this is your first pregnancy. I would look out for prelabour symptoms in conjunction with the baby dropping. This is my first baby too.

The baby being head down doesn't mean u will go early unless u are dailated some all ready.i had 5 kids and i was always dailed 1 to2 cms for 2 or 3 wks,my babies never came be4 39wks.my kids turned head down by 36 wks

engaged just means the babys head is in the pelvis, it has nothing to do when you start labor :)
