How Long Was Your Induction

Hi! I'm being induced on April 20th at 38w 2d and am wondering what to expect. With my first I was in labour for 46 hrs, and still needed oxytocin for the last 6 hrs. since I was stalled at contractions 4 mins apart and the dr. said eventually my uterus would just give up, so I'm actually happy to just have the oxytocin from the start rather than have so many hours of labour first! My dr. has assured me that this one would be quicker than the last one, but I'm wondering how long an induction usually takes compared to natural labour?

I was induced with my daughter at 38 weeks 3 days and my labor was 11 and a half hours total. I will be induced with this one as well at 39 weeks and expect it to be quicker than last time.

Erin, I remember you from another post. How are things going? Why are you being induced after all? Just saw my OB today (I'm 36w4d) and have been measuring small for a while now. Have an u/s on Friday and if still measuring small (it's only weight-wise, height wise the baby is fine) she will consider inducing... please keep us posted.

CgGirl...How are things going? I know it's been so long, you've probably had the baby by now! I ended up going into labour on my own two days before my scheduled induction, on April 18th. There were a few difficulties with the delivery because I had polyhydramnios (excessive fluid), but everything was fine. He was tiny though...18 inches and 5lbs. 10oz. But he's perfectly healthy and is already about 6 1/2 lbs., so I think he's definitely growing better on the outside than he would have on the inside!
