I never had any meds at all well in labor with my last one I was at the point b4 I started pushing that I was going to take Demerol but I went from 6 centimeters to 10 in like not even 5 minutes so they did not have the time to give me any. It was not that painful anyways I basically laughes through everything well I was giving birth wich was 7 months ago today I was asking dh to start ttc#3 again this summer. So now that is what we are doing. Labor naturally is completely barable as long as you relax between contrations I was pretty much sleeping.I was contracting every 2 minutes. Was it ever amazing though. Im sure you know that already though with already having 5 of your own. What is it like having 5?

I have 2 girls both natural birth no drugs. 1st labor was at home for most of it. It lasted a little over 48 hours. The second went to the hospital right away I thought it might be faster it was only 24 hours but much more painful. I don't remeber that much pain with my 1st.

I have two boys and a little girl, pg with another boy. First labour I was given pethadine too late, at 9cm, threw up, useless. Second I had three puffs of gas, but it made my head spin and id nothing for the pain. Last labour was 45 minutes, no choice! A natural at home birth this time..our oldest is 10 next week, then our 7 year old boy and our four yr old girl. This time it's a bit more of an age gap than I wanted, but oh well!

I am pregnant with my 5th child. With the third, I went natural, with no medication. It wasn't too bad, but my labor was really short. My water broke at 1:00am. I got to the hospital at 2:00am and didn't have much pain at all. By 2:30 I felt more pain and asked the nurse to check me, but she said that I had only been there 1/2 hour, and that they would check me in a little while. At 3:00am when they checked me they quickly rushed to get everything ready and call the doctor. At 3:15 my son arrived(the dr. didn't even make it for the delivery). My total labor was 2hr. 15min, and there was just no time. But I was a wimp when I had my 4th child. Labor was longer, and I wanted something for the pain. We'll see what happens this time.

Ok with my first I think they over did it on the pain meds, to the point where I couldn't feel the contractions at all. I know that sounds wonderful but the downside to that is that you don't know when to push. My daughter was sunny side up and I had to go in for a c-section after 2.5 hours of pushing. So I still had to use the sitz bathe afterwards. For my second I was afraid of having yet another bad experience with the epidural. So I took my time going into the hospital so that they wouldn't send me home and walked in at 6 cm dialated. Even at 8 cm I refused the epidural but when it came time to needing it it was too late. I have to admit natural birth wasn't bad. I didn't tear because I had a great doctor who knew when to make the cut. Recovery was relatively easy. My son was born happy and healthy. So for this one I have decided not to be so "billy bad a__s" and as for the epidural. But atleast this time I know to only use enough to take the edge off but to allow me to feel the contractions so I knew when to push. Good luck! Hey at 5 kids shouldn't we be asking YOU for advice pro...lol! JK

I had one shot of Demerol which I think did nothing and it was given to me long before induction. I have done it without an epidural, so now the next time I will do it all natural again. What an empowering experience!!!!! I survived, I can do it again. :)
