Lissa, I was induced with all of mine with no pain meds. Being induced just means your in the hospital from beging to end. My first I was half faced and also 2 cm. When the dr breaks your water it helps things move along alittle faster. But once you get to 7cm it wont be long from there. Inducing isnt anything bad. Its just a way for you to force your body into labor. If I was you I would do it. GL congrats.

I was induced and my contractions were VERY strong. This is my only child so I can't compare it to a labor w/o pitocin. I say if you are planning on having an epidural and don't mind having stuff hooked up to you, it won't be that bad. When I say stuff hooked up to you I mean: IV, blood pressure cuff, fetal monitor, contraction monitor, epidural. I just really would have preferred a somewhat "natural" labor and my induction was anything but. I'm going to work very hard next time to watch my weight gain and hopefully I won't have the same problems and need to be induced. Honestly though, from reading posts, everyones labor is totally different and you'll never know until your day arrives what will happen. Good luck!

You should be induced by an acupuncturist. I am an acupuncturist and I have induced many, many women. Most go into a natural labor within 24 hours after their acupuncture treatment. some in less time. It is natural, pain-free and has no side effects. It is worth trying before the other alternatives. My friend just had a Pitocin induction that was excrutiating and then wound up getting a c-section. Acupuncture can also help to turn a breech.

monica, the problem with that is that pitocin is covered by insurance - acupuncture isn't.

I understand that acupuncture is not covered by insurance, I offer a discount for certain insurance carriers to help the consumer. You only need one, possibly two acupuncture treatments. To me, I think it is worth the money to avoid the pain and discomfort of being induced in the hospital.

j, I'm sorry that you are so offended by my reply. I am offering an alternative solution to a common problem. If you think acupuncturists are raking in the cash, you are mistaken. I practice this medicine because it can offer healing to people who need it, not to make a million dollars. If I wanted to be greedy I would work for your insurance company.

I'm not offended, I just think acupuncture is a load of b.s.

The acupuncture treatments are $50.00. J, it's really too bad that you are so close minded. A medicine that has been around for 5000 years isn't some kind of a sham. It's natural medicine, take your drugs if you want them, why should care. This forum posting wasn't for you anyway.

I say that if the baby is OK, let nature take its course. You are so close to the end, what's another week or two??? All of my friends that asked for induction regret it now, some due to increased pain and some wish they'd let it happen naturally.

Funny, monica, if it's so legit, why are you attacking me? Sounds to me like you've a bit defensive about it.

Well, My sister used Acupuncuture to turn her breech baby, and when she hit 40w6d she went in for treatments for induction.. it only took one for her. 2 hours afer her treatment she was in the hospital giving birth to my niece. I know if it comes down to it with me, I will definately be trying eachand every natural method before going with drugs. My forst pitocin induced labor was a nightmare. P.S. Acupuncture has been recognised by every medical profession as a real medical treatment, so even if it isn't a cure-all, the medical world has noted that it does work, and why.
