You have to always expect the good and the bad. I was 2 weeks overdue. They admitted me to the hospital last Sunday July 17, 2005. They induced twice with the gel over a 24 hour period. My cervix was completely closed. It finally opened up slightly the following Monday morning. It wasn't doing the trick. Mid- morning came they induced me again with oxitosin. By 8:00pm on Monday and 48 hours later I delivered a healthy boy. He had to be forced out through forceps and I had an episotaty ( they cut open the v____a and the a__s). Let me tell you something I certainly did not expect this. Although you have to be prepared for anything. Especially when you need to be induced, because it's not natural. They are forcing mother nature to come out. I was nervous as well. I have a wonderful husband who supported me and walked me through the whole ordeal. Think happy thoughts and everything well work out.

I was just induced with my first baby on June 13 at 7am and delivered June 14 at 9:53pm. It is usually a long process and the contractions are unnatural and therefore more painful (as the nurses and my doctor told me). So plan on some form of anesthesia, since an unmedicated birth without induction is painful enough. I don't think I have a very high threshold for pain and I survived and so will you. Once the induction gets your contractions regular the nervousness should subside, and once you deliver your baby nothing that happened that day or the day before will even matter. Good luck....
