I lost my mucus plug 3 days ago dialated to 3 cm and 60% effaced I am 39 weeks and have had contractions off and on for a while now but they are not consistant. so whennnnnnnnnnnn! is it going to happen.

I keep hearing about this Muscus Plug. I am going into my 39th week and am confused. One friend lost hers while having s_x 2 months before delivering. Another friend told me that when it happens it means labour can be any time soon, BUT! another friend said that she didnt know what I was talking about, that it never happened to her. I have read what everyone has to say but am still wondering, does this have to happen days/weeks before labour or can it happen when labour begins?!?!?!?!? HELP!!!!!!!

it can happen when labor begins. thats what happend to me. I felt the same as u do then my water brock and my plug came at the same time

Linds - I asked my doctor a few times about discharge, etc..and he does not seem concerned.....I only had the globs twice, but like I said it was like "snot" (sorry -eeeew), and It was a ball of it. Hmmmm...what if it is an infection? The doctor has examined me since and has not mentioned excess discharge..........what do y'all think?

Jay- I don't know how much you mean when you say globs, but I know what you mean by discharge, I have the same thing. It seems to have gotten heavier the closer to my due date. (im 39 weeks this week) I read "what to expect when you are expecting" and it says it is normal. Does anyone else have a problem with wet underwear that doesnt look like discharge? it could be discharge, i dont know. Someone told me that your water could break slow, so its got me worried, I have a doc appoint tomorrow I will ask him then.

I have had some mucus-y like stuff but not a lot.. when you loose your mucus plug is it a lot all at once or can it gradually come out?

Ak- That is a good question, I have a doctors appointment tomorrow afternoon, I will be sure to ask my doctor and I will confirm that question for the both of us. Do you always feel wet down there too?!

i am 37.2 and i just had alot of white runny stuff coming out..maybe its discharge, but does it really get that runny?...i was peeing and after i was done i felt the liquid coming out and i got a mirror and seen all this white discharge running out ...could that be the mucus plug?..i am sorta feeling contractions too, in my back and my stomach is getting hard...doesnt this just frustrate us pregnant mothers always having to wonder the :what ifs?..lol..good luck to everyone...

With my first son i was due on a 5th and on the 7th I got up and red blood was coming down then a strong pain like cramps each 5 minutes for a really long time. I went to hospital as i was due but i was only 1cm dilated so I was sent back home as I was told that real labour could take a few more weeks. The next day i was ok until 10:30pm where I thought i was going to dye with the biggest contraction then I was ok once again until 3am when i went back to hospital with 3cm dilated then i waited 26 hours in labour to finally see my son but they also had to brake my water. Well now im 3 days overdue and the famous plug that i thought was gonna be there doesnt show up. however I was told that u dont get it all the time or if u do u may not be able to notice it. However today I have been having lots of mucus but I wonder am i going to see my baby soon. IMPORTANT!! I was told NOW by my doctor that if u start bleeding as I was with my first son it means that u have to call hospital and go asap bc it is not good means that the baby may be in trouble so if u plug is pure red blood then call and take ur bag with u

I had "show" with my second - woke up in the middle of the night with the famous lower back pains, went pee and wiped. Just like in the books, there was a streak of blood in the midst of a white eggie texture. I had my girl 10 hours later. But the snot like stuff that I had didn't have any blood so I am wondering - is there a difference between "show" and mucous plug? I do know that the snotty stuff was my plug - what else could it be?? No other symptoms.....and didn't have any more after the second one.

It's so hard to say, the docs say that everyone is different. I had the same as Jay, last night went pee and there it was a clear glob with a boldy streak in the middle, except i had a couple of pink and red dots on it (it looked like it was alien like!). I am only dilated to 1cm, but I go to the Doc tomorrow. I hope i'm lucky enough to have a baby by tomorrow.

my discharge has gotten really heavy but the color and oder is still the same (normal) but Really heavy what does this mean?

I know your supposed to feel the bh contractions or some cramping feelings and then your plug is supposed to magically appear in your tp or pad some where in third trimester and mine might have come out today but i think it was because of a vag exam to see how dialated i am (only1/2 cent.) i am due in 8 days and i wonder if the doc caused it to come out by messing with it ??? but mine looked like grape jelly.....

I am only 7 weeks pregnant but with both my previous children I lost my mucus plug and somehow never noticed it.

i will be 39 weeks tomorrow, went to the doctors on wed and am still the same 1 cm dialated but now 50% effaced. i dont know how this could of happend because last week i was 70% effaced. i have been walking around 21/2 miles everyday! this is the longest annoying pregnancy ever. my friends predicted i will magically give birth on the 29th..i hope so.

I was taking shower and felt something. It was part of mucus plug or something. It was yellowish but no blood. I am 39 weeks 3 days and so far I am waiting..Arghh I don't want to be induced... Last week I had alot of false alarms..Hopefully I will know when I get into labor! Good luck to all!
