Naturally Inducing Labour

Medical induction does not cause the woman to make natural endorphins which lessen pain. With natural inducation such as castor oil or blue and black cohosh, natural pain relieving endorphins are made by the mother. Therefore, medical induction often brings stronger and more painful labour contractions.

I am 39 weeks and i have tried everything, se, fresh pineapple, etc, they aint working, hot curry, long walks, none of these have worked for me. Never heard of the red wine thing, my first son was 10 days early, but this one seems to be staying put. (sigh) Good luck ladies.

I am 39 weeks and scheduled to be induced on Halloween. I am alternating taking black and blue cohosh every hour, and I inserted evening primrose oil inside. Nothing yet, but a friend of mine that knows alot about herbs said it should work if my body is ready. But, if my body is not ready, nothing will happen.

had my 37 week appt this tuesday the doctor said the baby was in position and i was 3 cm. She said not to bother with a follow up appt because i was having this baby very soon. Well........ its been 4 days and i've gotten as far as losing my mucous plug. I've tried s_x, rasberry tea, and walking but nothing has worked so far. i'll probably try walking some more and see how that goes bit as for the castor oil im too chicken.

I am 36 weeks and 3 days. I went to a perinatologist today and they did an ultrasound. Our baby is 7lbs. and looks healthy, all organs looked good. I had my first one at 36 1/2 weeks and she was 8lbs. My dr. won't induce until I'm late, but I do not want to have a 10lb. baby. So been trying the s_x thing and housework, walking,,,everything works for me, I get contractions coming pretty strong,,but I've been afraid it was too soon. Now that I know she's ok, I am cleaning house and having a foot ma__sage tonight. Then I will go for a long walk and have s_x first thing in the morning. HOpefully by tomorrow night we will have baby. keep your fingers crossed for me. as for the other alternatives, the castor oil,etc...alot of those things can make your labor way worse, so be careful.

To all you woman that are not even 40 weeks preg. you should really wait till your due date before you try anything to induce your labour. I will tell you all, this is now my third child and my first I was a week over due when I went into labour, my second I was two weeks over due tryed lots of s_x, walked lots, all the oil and still nothing had to get induced by the doctor. Now I'm 40 weeks preg. and like all you guys I want to have this baby, I tryed castor oil the other day and my labour begain, but then stopped, I have been doing lots of walking and still nothing! About 3 weeks ago I lost my plug and the doctor told me any time now and here I am still waiting. I go see him tomorrow and I'm praying that he will be kind and induce me sometime this week. Good luck and if any of these things work for you great. Nothing worked for me with any of my preg.

Cascade of intervention! Here's some advice for those wishing to end their pregnancy before the baby is ready. 24 - 48 hours before labor starts on it's own, the baby stops inhaling the amniotic fluid to protect him/her from accidently inhaling meconium if it is released during labor. The release of meconium often occurs in induced labors, baby is not ready and inhales/swallows a heap - then you're left with a baby in the intensive care unit, entirely due to impatience. Do you think you could live with yourself knowing you are potentially putting your baby's life at risk?

Well, I was all for inducing labor until this last week. My good friend lost her baby at 5 weeks before her due date. (This was from other medical causes, not from trying to induce herself). After seeing her pain and tears, I am all for trying to enjoy the privalege of EVEN being able to even have babies. I am 31 weeks pregnant with my 5th son and I am willing and excited to enjoy the aches and pains, because I want my baby here healthy and ready to nurse without any problems with jaundice and such. And believe me I do get aches and pains from having 10 lb. babies. Listen to your doctors, they know best believe or not. Please contact your doctors if you feel something is wrong or if you don't feel good!!! If you want to get induced, talk to your doctor to find out the best way and time. Other than that, lets just try to get our babies here safe and sound and cute and chubby!!

I am 41 weeks pregnant, and after reading about the women who are only 37 weeks and complaining about not going into labor yet, i wanna smack em. I am well past a month of you ladies and i am extremley uncomfortable. I can understand medical problems and so forth, but for those of you who just wanna get it over with, SHUT UP! I have wanted to get it over with from the moment i found out i was pregnant, but never tried to induce labor before my 40 weeks. I have s_x on the regular, because i enjoy it (not all the time, my belly gets in the way, its more for my husbands pleasure and the closeness) Dont get me wrong, its your baby and your body and i am all pro choice, but come on ladies, atleast wait until your 40 weeks then think about inducing. Talk to your doctor first though. I cry everyday because my little girl wont come out, but i havent went to the extreme of taking castor oil, and all that other junk. I hate waiting just as much as everyone else, and would try anything at this point, but if its gonna hurt my child or me, forget it. I hate the saying that "she'll come out when she's ready" to me, that will be never. I havent dropped or dialated, i havent even lost my mucous plug yet, and i am extremley irritable. I walk everyday, nothing is working. I have also heard that if you drive down a bumpy road, that it will help. I have yet to try this because the last thing i need is a broken car before i go into labor. Do what you will i guess. I wasnt trying to be mean. I just think that you should wait until your atleast 40 weeks before trying to induce, unless there is a medical problem. Good luck ladies. I hate it too. There will be no more babies for me. You can COUNT ON THAT!

Oh, and another thing, it seems like 90% of us late women are having baby girls...isnt that weird??

Jenna - November 12

Im under the opinion that when baby wants to come it will come, but I have tried everything except caster oil (have enough cramps as it is) to try and encourage it abit! I, like this rest of you, am very eager to meet my baby, I'm due today and have'nt had an ounce of sleep all night. I've had the 'its never coming out' feelings for the last 2 weeks and the thought that it could still be another 2 weeks drives me insane! but I know when I finally meet my baby it will all be worth it and these last few weeks will be a distant memory. Hang on in there ladies.
