Pubic Bone Pain

Hello! I am 22 weeks and have just started experiencing pubic bone pain. It is very odd and I can't walk when it happens- I try to waddle but it doesn;t seems to help. I read up on SPD which explain how the hips misalign when stretching. That seems to make sense of it as I have alwasy had a mild swagger- as my Dad puts it. I am crossing my fingers that following the advice of not sitting too long will decrease it- both times it has occured I had been sitting for a long time. I think I will see a chiroprator for adjustments if it continues. I give sympathy for the pain- it is weird and scary. Good luck to all! Check out this site on SPD: http://www.plus-size-pregnancy.org/pubicpain.htm

My best geuss would be that your baby has dropped and is sitting on your pelvic bone. I don't think ther is much you can do about it until the baby is ready to come out. It sounds like it can be any day now, so I would just try to relax.

rosiethelawgirl is right. This is a condition that I have been diagnosed with too and is exactly what everyone here is experiencing. There isn't a lot you can do while you are pregnant but you may need to see a physio for a support belt. Don't aggrivate it by spreading the legs too far as this will only stretch the gap in the pubic bone further as Astrid mentioned below. You should definitely have this problem looked at as you also need to make sure you do what is necessary for a full recovery afterwards. Some women can have their pelvis harden (as the softening hormone disappears) in the wrong position or crooked and this is why some women complain of pain for years afterward. I hope this helps. :-)

I'm going through the same pain. It hurts to walk it hurts to lie in bed and roll over. I'm just 32 weeks. I never felt this pain with my two boys but this little girl oh I tell you she's alot different.

I am now 18 weeks pregnant and have already been experiencing a very painful pubic bone for about 2 months now. I have pubic bone problems with my first pregnancy but not until towards the end. One thing for certain, lying down on your side shifts your pubic bone and can make it feel worse. Lying down on your side should be done with a pillows between your legs pretty snug against the crotch. This will open it up a bit and helps. I find applying ice helps to relieve the pain a lot too. Just smack some ice right on your pubic bone (your crotch). I does seem like a weird place to have ice...but it helps. Frequent exercise combined with Kegel exercises would also beneifit someone with a sore pubic bone. When you first start to exercise it might seem like the moving made your pubic bone feel worse-but after doing it for awhile it will start to feel great. Inactiveness will only make matters worse.
