I'm now four days past my due date and beginning to wish there were no such thing as due dates. It was much easier to feel ready at 38 wks than it is to wait two weeks past that magic day. I'm drinking the tea and ma__saging my perinium to get ready for the birth and walking and having s_x just to relax but I really don't think anything we can do at home really works to bring labour on and I don't think we should try too hard. I'm now convinced mine is a determined little Aries just waiting to be born under the right star.

I drank the rasberry tea 3 cups then went out shoppping to find out that my contrations were strong but not strong enough. 3 days later the baby has dropped and I have continued to drink it. I hope it puts me in labour real soon.

Nipple stimulation releases the hormone 'oxytoxin', which is the hormone that brings on contractions.
I remember hearing years ago not to let your fella play with them too much early in pregnancy due to the risk of bringing on a miscarraige. The difference between medically induced and trying to bring it on yourself is that 'medically' uses artificial hormones and they block the release of our own and our babies' natural hormones that a__sist in labour and pain relief. If we try bringing it on ourselves we're encouraging the natural hormones which are specially designed and measured for our own body. Apparently stressing is the worst you can do as this releases adrenalin, which stops the contractions, by blocking the release of the oxytoxin. Oxytoxin is also released when we orgasm too.
Hope that helps, and Best Wishes to all for a Wonderful "Birth-day"

Your doc should only induce at 43 weeks. I had a "double" induction for my first - my water broke and I did not go into labour so 18 hours later they put cervodil (like a paper tampon) into me to soften my cervix. Contractions started slowly after that. It wasn't ideal, but it wasn't so bad. For the nipple stimulation, you have to do it a LOT (>4 hours continuous) to get the oxytocin release. S_x is also supposed to help, s____n has progesterone and as someone also mentioned, orgasms bring on oxytocin. But the best advice IMO is to walk and do chores around the house as much as you can, don't sit still.

You can buy it at safeway or any food store in the herbal department. I am currently 39 weeks and have been drinking the tea for the last week, it hasn't worked yet. But that doesn't mean it doesn't as everyone is different.

I was two weeks overdue and the castor oil worked for me. but be warned - it does purge the system. both ends. other suggestions are taking squavine as a tea. sorry, you will have to look into how much etc. i'm not too sure. other suggestions are s_x because the natural prostaglandins in s____n can help soften things up. then there are the old wives tales of walking, bumpy car rides, spicy food. and there is also acupuncture. i've heard of women's water's breaking in the room while the needles were in. i also took some chinese herbs... cant remember what. tasted yuk. and there are homeopathic treatments that you can look into as well. but i guess when it all comes down to it, the baby isnt going to come unless you are ready.
and a note on being induced, the reason you might not want to go that way is that you can go from nothing to full on and this is not the natural way of it all progressing. your body can be going "whoa. way too fast. and there is more chance of complications and distress to you and the baby. and c sections may be more likely to arise.
good luck. i hope all goes well for you.

Can I just point out that it's castor oil NOT castrol oil (that's engine oil). Don't want anyone poisoned!

I am not uneducated. Unfortunately I am more educated than most in this but that is beside the point. The point is still this babies come when there ready and not a minute before unless you physically yank them out. And not every doctor is out there to charge a ton of money. In fact the doctor I see does a lot of pro bono cases to ensure that women in my community get proper prenatal care. All I am saying is that I understand the frustration of being pregnant, especially being overdue but please consult with a MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL before trying any of the remedies you read about online. PLEASE. Doctor, midwife, nurse, don't try something just because someone else said it works for them. As with anything you put in your body, it affects everything differently.
