Hi my Dr stripped my membranes yesterday at my appt. at 3:30 pm and I had some irregular contractions last night but nothing since then she did also tell me though that it may take up to 48 hours IF it is going to work "IF" being the key word I am due Monday 8-8-05 but she set up a induction date of 8-10-05 just in case that didnt work so I am hoping this method will work she said it has a 50% chance of working so I dont know but I am very anxious to see my daughter and hold her and just be over with pregnancy but good luck to all

I was a week overdue with my first 2 daughters and went into labor immediately after having my membranes stripped. With my first daughter it put me into contractions before I even walked out of the dr s office and they were 15 mns apart. She was born 7 hours later. With my second, my midwife stripped, sent me to a local mall to walk for 2 hours and I went back. She swept again and sent me across the parking lot to the hospital. My second daughter was born within 7 hours also. I am due on Monday, and have an appointment scheduled for Wed knowing that this pregnancy will most likely be like the other 2 - hopefully they will do the procedure again and it will work like it did the last 2 times.

Priscilla...your membranes have to be stripped during a v____al exam by your doctor...just ask your doctor to do it...it only takes a couple seconds, and it really isn't all that uncomfortable, especially when you consider what you're getting out of it! Much luck!

This is my first pregnancy. Im at 38 weeks +. My doctor stripped my membranes yesterday morning at my appointment and yes, it hurt. I'm 2 cm and 50% effaced. I had aweful cramps and backache all day yesterday. Today i feel fine. Im still waiting for my water to brake or mucus plug to come out.. according to everyone else's entry, it should happen soon. We'll see how long it takes.

I am 40 weeks today, 6cm dilated, fully effaced, and i have had my membranes stripped 4 times now. It is uncomfortable, causes some cramping, but does not guarantee anything (or else i would have my third son already in my arms). we are still waiting. i recommend it, as it is not THAT painful, and might help...hope yours is more successful than mine. Good luck!!

I am 39.2 weeks now. Had my membranes stripped yesterday. I was already 2 -3 cm dilated and 90% effaced. And am really hoping to see my baby son SOON. Not much bleeding..a little pinkish discharge....but other than that, nothing. Heard that sometimes it takes 72 hours so I'm praying that I will deliver by Thursday!!

hello- I wrote above how I got my membranes stripped and I am 2cm+ does anyone have any ideas how to get this labor moving along?? I am 39+ weeks it's been a tough pregnancy for me-one thing after another and my husband and I can not wait to meet our son we both have knots in our stomachs just waiting-If I don't have the baby by Thursday they will induce me Friday am because they think he's about 8.7 ounces already and I am not a big person- I would like to avoid the pitocin I have heard horror stories about being in labor forever- I have tried walking, rasp. tea everything- It's like I am made of steel- anyone else just sitting around waiting for something to happen??

i am now officially overdue, but until two weeks overdue, they will not induce me. I have had my membranes stripped 4 times, 6cm dilated, fully effaced, and over the weekend, i had a procedure done where they pull the amniotic sac out of the body as much as they can, to try and either break the water, or stimulate labour...no such luck there either. They performed this procedure in my home four times on sunday, and still irregular, unpainful contraction and no baby. Getting frustrated as well, I cannot sleep because the baby is so low down and my back is constantly aching. I, too, feel like my amniotic sac is made of t_tanium, and things will never get going. Still hoping for today, though...

I wrote above under Joanne- I truely wish everyone good-luck I found out today that I am now 3cm and 90%effaced my doctor is going to induce me Friday am they are concerned about the way he's dropping??!! I don't know what I will do with myself in the next day or so but hopefully I will be able to get some sleep before the little one comes along- my advice is to be persistant (sp?) until you get what you want the wanted me to wait till next week this baby is about 9 pounds now and I am sick as a dog- I made an app. every other day until they took me seriously!! Best of Luck to you all!!

Hi, I am 39 weeks and 1 day. My doctor stripped my membranes today and I'm having cramps and a little more discharge. I was induced with my first child 4 days after having my membranes stripped and I didn't make much progress before the induction. I'm scheduled to be induced next Tuesday, but maybe I'll go over the weekend. I am GBS positive, so I'm a little concerned about the membrane stripping. Has anyone every heard anything negative about stripping membranes if you have GBS?
