When Are Contractions Strong Enough

I delivered my 1st child by c-section and am scheduled for my 2nd on the 30th. I went 2 the hospital last nite for dehydration and was already unknowingly having frequent contractions. They were uncomfortable but not painful. The fluid I was administared calmed the contractions but didn't stop them. I'm feeling them stronger again but don't know whether to call or not. Someone with info please help! ( I also dilated to 8 without much pain with my 1st.)
