hey everyone was just wondering everyones opinion on something. iam almost 36 wks and the past week or so ihave been really stressing bout the kids in the family and friends kids visiting when i have my baby. i dont have any problem with them being there to see the baby once its born i just dont really feel comfortable with them holding it because there all aged around 4 and under.one friend in particular keeps telling her son (aged 3) that he can hold the baby once its born but he's a very rough kid and personally i dont want him holding it, i just dont know how to tell the parents this without insulting them.im also worried about them passing on germs/colds etc to the baby too.am i being unreasonable bout this and too over protective? sorry this question is so long!

Your baby- it is up to you!

hh is right, it is your baby. If your friends throw a fit, just laugh, say its new mom nerves, and that until the baby is older you really don't feel comfortable with your baby being pa__sed around like a hockey puck. If that doesn't work, just don't answer your door!

You can always do what I did, tell them that the doctor doesnt want anyone handling the baby until after his/her first check up to minimize germs ect. being pa__sed on to the baby. Trust me, being a new mom is hard enough, having to deal with a sick newborn is even harder, so unless your friends plan on taking care of the baby if it gets sick, tell them you would feel better if they waited til the baby was older.

No problem, you just have to remember, its your baby. I had my first son in the middle of october and everyone wanted to touch him and hold him and everything and I said that they would have to wait til christmas because then I knew he would be able to tolerate germs better. and as far as having someone else's child hold onto your baby, I wouldnt, you could suggest that he sit in your lap while you hold the baby, just make sure everyone washes their hands real good. Good luck you have only a month to go :)
