I can say I've never ever heard anything like this. And when I read the topic I thought it was a joke. I can barely eat a hamburger let alone my placenta, no way, it looks soo gross, like a huge tumor. But Im not gonna say your a bad person if you do. Everyone has/does their own thing. :)

That is without a doubt the most disgusting thing I've ever heard. Why not eat your ear wax, your poop, and drink your urine for hydration while you're at it!!! I can't believe it's done!

umm I would have to say no! That sound really disgusting to me. After just seeing one how could someone want to eat it. I would never eat my fieces and that is natural. I guess it is just up to the person but that is not my thing to do.

YES. THE REASON BEHIND MY CHOOSING TO DO SO IS BECAUSE IT REDUCES THE LIKELIHOOD OF PND DEVELOPING. ALSO HELPS PREVENT THE RISK OF HAEMORRHAGE. I PLAN TO CHOP MINE INTO SMALL SIZED PIECES THAT ARE EASILY TO SWALLOW WITHOUT CHEWING AND WILL CONSUME THE ENTIRE MATERNAL SIDE OF THE PLACENTA BEFORE 48 HOURS POST BIRTH. ALSO IT'S THE ONLY MEAT THAT IS NOT SLAUGHTERED FOR CONSUMPTION :)

I think I have to throw up now..... I know about it, in europe you get ask if you want to take it home, if you bury it you have to do it 6 feet under since it is a human organ and some people plant a tree on it. Anyways, a lot of cosmetics is made out of placentas, like the facial creme placentaplex which is the most obvious. gosh I feel sick now...

This cant be real!!!! People really eat themselves?!?! Gross!! It sounds like something out of "The Silence of the Lambs". Is it legal to eat body parts or to even keep them in America?

ll - September 14

so true Mindee, I mean, what am I gonna say " Oh, can I have THAT to go???"or "Honey, the milk is in the fridge, right behind the placenta" or "Gosh Hon, this placenta is great, you want some more mashed potatoes with that?" YAK!!!!!!!

You know, I know this sounds gross, but I heard that if you ate your placenta, it helps with lessening the chance of hemmoraging after, and it can make the time you bleed after delivery shorten. Since it takes like a month to stop bleeding, and you can't take a bath, and you can't have s_x, I would probably consider eating my placenta if I had some concrete data that said something like eating your placenta means you will only bleed for 2 weeks! I'd do it in a hearbeat.

I have heard that for women who birth una__sisted at home it can be recomended for hemorraging. I don't think it is generally cooked though. It would be more of an emergency type thing. Gross, but hey, if it can save your life?? For stomach churning fun I threw in these links. I caution you, they are discusting and some disturbing. ---> *Placenta Recipes : http://www.mothers35plus.co.uk/plac_rec.htm *Rat Eating Placenta : http://www.ratnet.od.ua/dressura/birth%20and%20pol/eating_placenta.jpg *Placenta Soup image http://ehacked.com/images/posts/eating_babies/005.jpg

to a few of the posts on here who claim its not normal, define normal? im gonna bring mine home and contemplate on what to do with it, i wont be eating it as i cant stand blood, and i wouldnt eat anything that comes out of my bonus hole! but others do it and we should respect that, but i need to know what the hell does it taste of, as to me is looks like haggis xx

Dawn - September 17

I would definitely not eat my placenta. I have heard it is a cultural type thing to do someplace, but I could never want to even see it after giving birth to it.

ok - October 9

Well good luck to those who try it...personally I could not do it. Okay i know that all animals do this, I could only go so far as planting under a tree.
