Leanne, CONGRATS!!! That is wonderful news and always makes me teary eyed. I remember when we found my baby at nine weeks...not a dry eye in the room and it was a crowded room. Have you shared your story at the misdiagnosed site? It helps to have all the success stories in one place to give other women hope. I guarantee the details of your situation will match the details of so many other women's supposed blighted ova. Congrats again www.misdiagnosedmiscarriage.com

my dr said the same thing at 7 weeks and immediately scheduled a D&C. After the D&C I was still really sick and when I went back in he said i was still pregnant. I'm now 19 weeks with a healthy girl (and a new OB!) My advice is to wait this is apparently way too common of a misdiagonosis. It's better to wait for a natural miscarriage to be sure but you should definitely check with another U/s and more blood tests a couple of weeks later. Mine didn't show up until almost 9 weeks. I was very lucky he missed my baby in the D&C but the scary part is if he hadn't I would never have even known.

I am in the same situation now. I had a m/c last July and after one cycle of clomid, I am seven weeks. I went yesterday for my first u/s. We saw two sacs! Unfortunately, both were empty. The first sac measured 5w3d and the second was 4w?d. The lady who performed the u/s said this was normal with twins. They often measure differently in the early stages but soon catch up and measure the same. However, the doctor, who is more familiar with my situation realizes that I should be very close to 7 weeks because of when I tested positive. He scheduled me for another u/s in and week and discussed d&c. Previous post give me such hope...Please keep me in you prayers and I'll do the same. May God be with you all.

I hate to alarm you but it sounds all to familiar ~ with my first pregnancy I found out at 8 wks with an u/s that I had a blighted ovum. I had all the signs of pregnancy but, the sac was empty. My body believed I was pregnant ~ in a way I was but, there was no developing embryo. I had a D&C at 10 wks then recoped for 3 months. We the imediately concieved and had a healthy baby boy 10 months later. I just try to keep in mind that if it had been a viable pregnancy the first time then we wouldn't have Carson now.

Hello, I wanted to offer a positive perspective on this topic. At 9 weeks I went for a v____al ultrasound expecting to hear a heart beat, I left with the doctor telling me I was only 5 1/2 weeks pregnant and there was only an empty sac. I was so sad, I knew I was not 5 1/2 weeks. They told me to come back in 2 weeks, the longest 2 weeks in my life. a few days before my appointment I began spotting. I thought for sure that it was going to be bad news. I had myself braced as much as I could when i went in to the office that day. I was so scared I would not even look at the screen, but then I heard it! The heard beat! 172 beats, I was so happy, and I was indeed showing 11 weeks where I should have been. I spotted for another month after that. But I am now 4 1/2 months pregnant and am doing great. It is so easy to think the worse when something does not go as expected. But keep the faith, sometimes the scans are not right, it is hard to see anything that early on an ultrasound, I wish you all a healthy pregnancy and healthy babies!

This happened to someone I know. Her body continued as though she was pregnant, belly grew, all the symptoms. Turned out to be a molar pregnancy. Not sure exactly what that is but there's a sac and placenta I believe but no baby, required chemo. Might want to look into it.

I want to offer those who are worried some happy news to hear. Doctors are not always right. I was diagnosed with an empty sac/blighted ovum at 6 weeks. I went back continously for the next 2 weeks to see if the sac would grow a fetus. The doctor told me that my chance of that happening was really slim to none. The nurse even told me that it wasn't my fought, abnormalities with chormosomes happen all the time. I went back at 8 weeks for another ultrasound, and this time they saw a fetal pole. The doctor even saw heartbeat. So, my advice is DON't get pressured into having a d&c done, until you are completely certain. You don't want to live the rest of your life with any doubts. Good luck!!!

Tamara, I am going through this right know. My I am 7 weeks along and my hormones are now starting to not rise properly but I have no sign of miscarriage and I am clueless to what is going on and what to think. I just wanted you to know you are not alone and my prayers are with you and your unborn.

I went to the Doc Yesterday for my 12 weeks check very happy to be able to hear the heartbeat. When she could not find it she sent be right then for and u/s. They found the baby but no heartbeat, no movement.. nothing they messure and it was only showing 9 weeks so the think I lost it 3 weeks about and was a missed miscarriage.. I go for my D&C on monday.. I had no idea I had lost the baby. When I could see it there on the screen but nothing was happening I just lost it. I could make out the general form could even see two little spots for they eyes. Now I am just waiting for the D&C and want to get it over with. Good luck to everyone

This is my 3rd pregnancy. My first two were 9 and 11 years ago though. At 4 weeks the doctor couldn't see anything not even a sac. I first saw my sac at 5 weeks and saw something very small by the 6th week inside the sac. It was flickering and the doctor said that was the heartbeat. I hope and pray that everything goes well for you.

Reading your stories gives me so much hope! Went to the ER yesterday because of cramping- had a transv____al u/s done only to find that I'm only sizing at 5wks not the 8wks I thought. They think it could be a blighted ovum. I have another appt next week and hope that there will be a sac or even a fetus to be seen. After reading about your miracles, I can only hope that mine will be one too. God Bless.

I am so upset reading your story's. They are so sad. Just yesterday i went for my first u/s. They found a small sac (5.5weeks) but couldn't see anything in there. They were saying that it is to early to tell. I have never heard of a molar preg until tonight when my sister called me. She told me not to get to excited as i might miscarry. I immediatley jumped on the net and have read some horror stories. I have all the symptoms, have had 3 positive preg tests. It's a long weekend here in Aust and i have to wait to see my referring doctor. i am a wreck!!

Amy - June 12

I had an empty sac at 9 weeks which I could not believe it so I waited for 2 weeks before I went for another scan, unfortunately the sac was empty although I had all the pregnancy symptoms. I went for D & C on 11th week.
