My dates say that I should have been 8 weeks pregant on Tuesday July 5. Last Monday (july 4), after intercourse I had a tiny spot of red blood, followed by a small amount of light brown discharge that stopped that evening, but then reappeared the next day and then stopped again. I went to my doctors as this is my first pregnancy and I was very concerned. My doctor said it's quite normal in many women, but he decided to give me an internal examination which he said was fine and also send me for a scan just to be sure. A few days prior to visiting the doctors, I had my first meeting with the midwife, where she checked my blood and urine and all was good. Anyway on Thursday I went for my scan, but they couldn't see by scanning my abdomen, so they scanned my va___a. They said that they could see the fetus but it was very small and measuring at just over five weeks with no heartbeat. They said it could either be that my dates are wrong (which I know they're not), or I ovulated late, or that maybe the fetus stopped growing ay five weeks. They told me to come back 10 days later (a week next Monday) as by then it should be bigger with a heartbeat, or if it's the same then it's obviously stopped growing. Has anyone else had this and what was the outcome? I am fearing the worst to be honest, and then if all is OK it will be a bonus. I am also paranoid everytime I have any slight twinges that I'm starting to miscarry. As yet no cramps and no more spotting. I'm very scared. People keep telling me to be positive but I can't see that my dates would be 3 weeks out. Also that means it stopped growing over 3 weeks ago, yet I've had pregnancy symptoms all this time.
