Does Falling Hcg ALWAYS Mean Miscarriage

I am 5 weeks with a history of miscarriage. Last Monday, my hcg was 87. By Friday morning, it was 490... everything looking great. On Friday I had a lot of abdominal "tightening"..... almost felt like Braxton Hicks, but I'm only 5 weeks. Saturday morning I had some extremely light spotting. Barely pink tinged CM. It scared me, so I went to the ER. My levels were at 232. He gave me paperwork on miscarriage, and in my head I know that's what is happening. But my heart is still hoping and holding on. Has anyone ever heard of dropping HCG that DIDN'T result in miscarriage? I still haven't started bleeding and it is Sunday morning. Nor have I started any intense pain. What do you think?

I am sorry to hear that you are going through this..I too just had a m/c. My HCG fell before my m/c to 100 and I did not have bleeding or cramping until a few days after that..Falling HCG this early is a sign of m/c..I would contact your MD immediately and let them know what is happening..they can do an u/s and more blood tests to be sure. Good luck to you!

I am scheduled to see my OB tomorrow. I am anxious to see what has happend to my levels by then..... that is, if I still haven't bled or cramped. I wonder why it took a few days afterward for the bleeding and cramping. I expect it will come soon, but until it does I guess denial has taken over and my heart and head are playing tug of war! I will post after my visit tomorrow. Thanks!
