Early Gestational Diabetes

I have no risk factors for gestational diabetes. The doctor had me take a glucose test at 7 1/2 weeks. I am just about 9 weeks pregnant now and I received a call that results came back positive for gestational diabetes. I understand that most women do not have this test until 24-28 weeks. It is hard not to worry, any advice?

Yea you are right they usually do not test until later in the pregnancy...I don't even know if it is possible to have the pregnancy causing diabetes this early on...Does diabetes run in your family?...Or are you overweight?...Or just at risk for having diabetes?...That might be why...
I had gestational diabetes in my last pregnancy...I am now 7 weeks and they havent even mentioned testing yet and my mom is an insulin diabetic...Did they tell you it is gestational?...That does seem odd to me...I will look around and see if I can find anything out...I wish you luck...

Ok lol...I do not know how to post a link...It should be pregnancy not pr-egnancy and htm not htm-...so remove those 2 -'s and hopefully u will get it to work...

I was first tested as early as you because I'm expecting twins, so this pregnancy is my first and considered high-risk, both of which increase my chances of GD. I'm also average weight - 5'3" and 118 when I got pregnant.
I pa__sed that early test, but failed my second one at 24 weeks. I just had it redone this week and failed that one too.
Did your doc give you the three hour GD test - you fast for 10 hours, then they take your blood, make you drink the sugar drink and take your blood again 1 hr, 2 hr, and 3 hr later.
Next week I start with a registered dietician who will help me with diet and testing my blood multiple times a day. No fun, but its apparently easily treatable.
