Please advise what the risks are...and are there any signs that you have exposed the fetus to the risk? I have cats and did not know!

Paula...The risks of exposing rhe fetus is the fear of contracting cat scratch disease/i believe also referred to as toxoplasmosis...I was diagnosed with this in my second pregnancy...chances are if you have had cats for a while you probably already have the toxoplasmosis in your blood..once you get it it stays in your blood system...the only time it can harm the fetus is if you catch it while you are in your first trimester...(what I was told)..and it can cause malformations...miscarriage...I went for a type two sonogram just to double check...my daughter is now 4 and very beautiful..and healthy...Your doc will test you and let you know if it is found. Try not to worry until you talk to your doctor.
