My story is the same as many others on here. I feel better knowing that I am not the only person who has went through this torture. With my second child, daughter, I developed kidney stones around week 29 and a stent was put in. Needless to say, it was the worst experience of my life. I am now pregnant with baby number 3 ten years later and have just found out I have kidney stones again. I refused to get the stent put in due to the pain of it the first time.
I was told the stent could only be in for no more than ten weeks and it was left in me for almost 4 months. It had calcified and when they went to take it out post delivery they had to laser it and break it up into several pieces. Needless to say, I ended up in the ER getting catheterized. After going through months of pain with the stent I would rather deal with the pain from pa__sing a stone. The doctors were heartless! I cried daily and called them with concerns, and they would shrug me off. This time around I have decided I will not let someome do this to me again. It is my body and I will get second and third opinions before I go through the pain again.

I still have the stent. I may have it replaced in a few weeks. When they take it out completely how long does it take to recover? Oh, and I am still battling infection!

My recovery was almost instant other than the trip to the ER the night of the stent removal for the catheter. I have been drinking a lot of water and lemon juice. I haven't taken any pain medication for almost 48 hours and feel pretty good. I DO NOT want to get a stent again. Only 11 weeks until due date. If you can get yours replaced, you might want to consider it, or get it taken out completely if it is causing you pain. My dr said that it was just as painful to have the stent as it is to pa__s the stones. Best of luck to you! :)

Hi everybody I just wanted to say its nice to hear that I am not alone I was 22 weeks pregnant when I went to the ER due to really strong back pain I had already had kidney stones before more than once so I recognized the pain but to my surprise I had more than 5 kidney stones and they found that I had an infection in my kidney so i was hospitalized for about 2 weeks it was a nightmare. I had 2 stents put in one with a string that was removed 3 days after them putting it in and another without the string that up till now hasn't been removed and I am now 29 weeks pregnant I have an appointment scheduled tomorrow for the removal of that stent an I can't tell you how excited I am the pain has been unbearable. Not only did I have 2 stents put in but also a pick line put in for the infection in my kidney. So I had to self medicate after leaving the hospital luckily I got that removed about 2 weeks ago. Anyways for those of you that may have this problem in the future my best advice is just to stick it out and the pain will soon be over once that stent is removed you go back to feeling like your old self.

I am 32 week pregnant and i just got out of the hospital for a kidney infection and possible kidney stones they put in a stent, however that is very painful. They sent me home with a prescription for Norco. I was wondering if anyone else has been prescribed this. i can't find much on what it does to the baby and if the benefits of taking it out weight the risks.

morganne72. I am sorry that you are going through this. I had a stent with my second child and I think they had me take tylenol. It was 11 years ago. With my third child, I got a kidney stone again, but refused the stent bc the pain was so unbearable with my second. I pa__sed the stone within a day and it was about 1/4 the size of a dime! The ER OB even agreed with me that stents are cruel punishment for pg women and it's prob better to just pa__s them and deal with the pain of the stone! I started drinking a combo of fresh lemon juice and olive oil daily (which was nasty)and a ton of water. Best wishes for a SPEEDY recovery!
Have you tried googling Norco?
